Hi! I will be a sophomore transfer student at Wash U this fall, and was wondering about the best housing. At my university this year, I was stuck in a miserable, moldy, very loud traditional dorm with a community bath. It was a very bad experience and I want to make sure I get something more modern and quiet this time. Looking at the Wash U housing website, some of the newer dorms in the South 40 seem nice, and the Village looks great, as well. I haven't really seen any information on the Village, but from its pictures it seems beautiful. Does anyone have any advice on which is better? Also, are some of the newer dorms better than others? If so, which ones? Thank you!! :)

I stayed in one of the new dorms and the rooms were HUGE. Loved it.

They are two very different communities. They have pretty much the same amenaties - new, spacious rooms (in the Village you are guaranteed a single) and extremely clean bathrooms. The 40 is a lot more active and social though. The Village is definatley for people who want a quieter environment. I live in the Village House and I really dont know anyone on my floor. I'm sure you'll be happy wherever you end up - but that's my opinion on the two.
