Just wanted to let anyone thinking about applying early decision know that Pomona has bumped up their EDI deadline to November 1 (a change from November 15). This is the ED deadline for most schools, and allows more time to review the increasing number of applications.

What is the difference in ED I vs. ED II? Only the due date?

the deadline for ED I is Nov 1, as the first post stated, while the deadline for ED II is Dec 29 [at least for the 07 freshmen], and it is only a couple days before the regular deadline. From what I have heard, applicants from ED I are often the strongest. Those in ED II pool is still very strong, but not as much in comparison to the first pool. Anyone else want to correct/support me?

AznBluelilgrl, would you be willing to tell me whether it would be better to apply ED I or ED II based on my Stats if I PM you? I feel like ED II would be better because I would have more time to make a decision.

Those in the ED I pool tend to be applicants who, of all the schools they've visited or in which they're interested, have decided that Pomona is the school for them. ED II students may have applied ED I elsewhere and been rejected and have then decided to apply ED to Pomona. (Note the operative word here is "may.") Some ED II students may have needed more time to assemble their applications due to time commitments, e.g., fall sport, etc., or to visit schools in the fall.

As for the deadlines, please remember that those are the dates by which applications need to have been RECEIVED in the admissions office.

skyhawk - I don't think your stats are the important factor in deciding between I and II.
My son applied EDII because he hadn't made up his mind where he wanted to go until after the EDI deadline.
The only negative about waiting until EDII is that you will still need to apply to other colleges, as their deadlines coincide, BUT it would be unwise to apply EDI if you have any doubt whatsoever that Pomona is your first choice.
Another advantage about EDII - if you are not accepted, you don't have to immediately apply to another set of colleges - you will already have those apps in, and you will just be waiting for results.

ED I is at a bad time. Cross Country ends in early November and I need time to breathe and then focus on my other college applications. Plus I'm kind of worried about test scores, so doing ED II would give me more time to take the ACT over again.
