New engineering major looking for some help :)

Hey guys,

I'm currently a student at HCC, my GPA is a 3.4, and my SAT is a 1860.

Anyways, I started as a bio major, but later decided Chemical Engineering was my passion.

I'm looking for some opinions on what courses to take at my last semester at HCC. I'll go ahead and list all the courses I've taken so you guys can check em' out.

Semester 1: GUST, Biology 1, Composition 1, Calculus 1

Semester 2: Introduction to Chemistry, Composition 2, Government 1, American History 1

Summer: Sociology, and American History 2.

I'm well aware my GPA is garbage, but I messed around a lot my first semester. My grades since then have improved immensely.

I have one more semester at HCC to pull that GPA up, but I was wondering what classes do you guys recommend I take? I need a speedy response as classes are filling up :).

Thanks for taking the time for even reading this.

Best wishes,

Have you talked to the college you are transferring to? I know at my college, half those classes wouldn’t transfer.

To transfer as a junior into a chemical engineering degree program, you likely need the following courses at a minimum:

Math: calculus, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations
Chemistry: general chemistry, organic chemistry
Physics: physics for engineers (calculus-based)

Your GPA is decent. Definitely not garbage unless you’re trying to get into the best of the best colleges. And by the way, your SAT doesn’t matter if you’re transferring. But check the websites of each of the schools you are going to apply to. They will have very similar requirements but likely one or two courses will differ so make sure you fulfill the requirements for each.
