Okay guys, I some help from anyone who knows the New England transit systems fairly well.

I'm going to be visiting a student of Dartmouth at the end of January. Having been deferred, I applied to Yale and I would really like to see the Yale campus (just in case I am rejected at Dartmouth and accepted at Yale). The problem lies in that the driving distance between the two schools is 3.5 hours... But the bus time is 8 hours!!!

Given that I want to be at Dartmouth as long as possible, does anybody know of a faster method of transportation than Greyhound 0122?

Right now I can only see two options. Fly into Boston, arriving in New Haven at 7.30 pm on sunday... taking the tour on the monday at 9am... and then taking the bus to hanover on the tuesday at 8.15 am, arriving at 4.30 pm. Then on the 30th I'll take the bus to boston and fly home.

Is there any way that I could spend more time in Hanover?

(perhaps another bus route? If I could find one that leaves at like 12, I'd only have to spend part of Sunday and part of monday in New Haven....that'd be the best option, I think.)

Side-note: I must depart on 23rd because sat's are on 22nd.... and I must come home on the 30th because a new semester starts on the 31st

I don't know where you are flying from, but the Manchester, NH airport is two hours closer to Dartmouth than Logan in Boston. It is served by Southwest (among others) and there are some terrific fares into Manchester. We are a little closer to Logan, but prefer flying into and out of Manchester whenever possible. Not even a contest from Dartmouth.

Logan is equally inconvenient to New Haven. Either Providence or Hartford would be closer and easier. I believe that Southwest also serves Providence.

As for driving times: it's no joke when people say that Dartmouth is in the middle of nowhere. It really is.

As for New Haven to Dartmouth, it might be faster to take the Amtrak train to Boston's South Station and then the Hanover Coach bus from there up to Dartmouth.
