New French AP?

i was wondering if anyone knew more about how AP french is going to change next year (here's the article about it: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/09/education/edlife/09ap-t.html?_r=2&ref=edlife)

i'm probably taking AP french next year and from hearing about it from seniors i've heard it's horrible, but i'm trying to figure out if next year's AP is going to be any better, or just what's changing about it

does anyone know anything more about this or have any opinions on it?

My French was talking about this in class today.
She said it’s going to be a lot better and way more interactive.

Ooops, double post.
She said there will be themes, less book work and an emphasis on speaking the language instead of only knowing how to write it.

sounds great! my french teacher is out for 3 weeks so i don’t know if she’s going to talk about it- i guess i’ll just find out when i take it :)

How many years have you been taking French for?

basically since 8th grade (i took it in 6th grade but then i switched schools so things got a little complicated and i took spanish for a year and switched back…so basically 8th grade). so i’m in my 4th year now which has probably prepared me, but i’m a little concerned b/c our honors french curriculum is wicked easy and the AP is supposed to be really hard so i’m worried about the jump…

Well I have been taking it for 2 years. I skipped French 2.
It comes natural to me.
I guess it’s because my father’s a native speaker.

oh so you’re taking it your 3rd year? that’s still really impressive
i’m guessing i should be able to do ok in the class, i’m just a little worried since languages aren’t my strong suit. hopefully the new format will make it easier to learn.

Yup. My 3rd year.
I plan on taking Advanced French Lit senior year.

It should be easier. I think College Board is really trying to produce fluent speakers… You really don’t need to master the grammar to speak it fluently.
