New freshmen: if you are considering skipping a course with AP credit...

If you are considering skipping a course with AP credit, you may want to check your knowledge of the Berkeley course material by checking the old final exams. To find them, you can go to University of California, Berkeley and put "[course department and number] final exam" into the search box. For example:

"Math 1A final exam"
"Math 1B final exam"
"Chemistry 1A final exam"
"Biology 1A final exam"
"Physics 7A final exam"
"Economics 1 final exam"

Be sure to check with your intended major department for what AP score will fulfill the course requirement without having to take the required course. Pre-meds should check medical schools for any specific requirements (many do not accept AP credit, although the same number of more advanced courses may be accepted in lieu of skipped courses).

Summary of AP credits for each college at Berkeley: [University of California - Berkeley](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/ap-credits/berkeley/index.html).

However, students in L&S need to check their prospective major departments which may have AP credit policies in addition to the general L&S policy in the link above, which covers only L&S requirements, not major requirements.
