new grad student

D will be attending Purdue in the fall. She was accepted into a Ph.D. program. We will be flying up in the next few weeks to check out off-campus housing options. I went to graduate school at Purdue, but that was twenty-seven years ago, and I am sure things have changed A WHOLE LOT. Anyway, I wondered if anyone knew of areas in Lafayette (she'd like to be across the river) that we might look at for housing. At this point, she's planning to live alone, and we are trying to stay away from housing w/ mostly undergrads. There will be some culture shock for her as she's lived in FL her whole life, lol. So, her first winter ... well, being a Hoosier (by birth not by alma mater), I've tried to prepare her for what's to come. We're trying to keep in mind bus lines (in case there's too much snow and she has no idea how to drive on it) or car port/garage situations that might help her too. Actually, we just aren't sure what to expect.

So, if anyone has any advice ... I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!
