New GRE in 2011, what do you think?

The Revised GRE exam is coming in 2011

It's the new GRE test that will be in affect in 2011. What do you think about the changes?

Should be better…at least that’s what I am hoping for. I just bought the 2011 Princeton Review book, to look at for the summer, but upon further reflection, I think I may just hold out for the newer test. I have a classmate that’s doing the same thing, and luckily I’m in no rush to take it yet.

I’m really curious about these changes.

No analogies! That itself should make it much more bearable.

Unfortunately I cannot wait that long to take it. :(

Depends. The Math seems okay. It should really suck for the Int’l students for whom English is not a first language. For them, memorizing vocab wouldn’t seem hard because it is memorizing after all. Good for us! Less competition from Int’l students that have problems communicating in English.

I’m bumping this since I didn’t want to create a new thread :)

For some reason, I prefer to hold out and take this new GRE. But I’m having a bit of doubts. Please convince me that this will be a great choice!!!

On Saturday, I was taking a practice test here at my school and the proctors from KAPLAN were trying to force the idea down our throats that it will be best to take the GRE BEFORE the changes in August 2011, saying it will be longer and a bit more difficult and how typically people perform worse for the first few years a new format has come into place. Of course, I feel like they are just pushing this just so kids can run to KAPLAN and sign up right away to take courses since time is running out for the last test dates of the current format.

For me though, I don’t mind waiting out for the new changes. Do you think that I will be making a good decision by waiting out? After all, I don’t plan to apply to graduate school until fall 2012 since I’m taking a (much needed) break after I finish my undergrad studies in Spring 2012. Also, I think it is best that I study for a year rather than cram for the next few months just to take the test in February and end up doing poorly. I will most likely take the test in Spring 2012 during my last semester as an undergrad.

I don’t know. What do you think? Would it be a mistake to hold out and take this new format? I heard no analogies will be on there!
