New here.Introducing myself

Hey everybody, let me introduce myself ,I am a Syrian student(is there any syrian student in this forum because ive been surfing around the forum for about a month and never have I seen a syrian student here) looking forward to study abroad in USA ,Canada ,or UK.I am an A student willing to get 1900+ in SAT1 which is hard for an international student and 90+ in TOEFL,and I'm an 11th grade student.
And now to talk on a different matter I am torn between biomedical engineering and chemical engineering,so can anybody tell me the pros and cons of both, and im willing to get a Ph.d if that helps but i am leaning more towards biomedicalE because i want to do Nanobiotechnology or bionics...etc. and is there stuff like that in chemical engineer like what can you do beyond CheE.
thanks

Better not generalize things from your point of view. It might have been difficult for you to get 1900+ in the SAT I but if you have done research on the SAT, you should be aware that international students have a higher SAT average than American students.

oh ok sorry.didn’t mean to generalize international students but where i live there are few students who get good grades in SAT.

Its fine…just wanted to inform you that “we” internationals score the highest average in SAT! Can you post your stats?? I mean academics+SAT+TOEFL+ECAs…

as i said up there im willing to get 1900+ in SAT so i didnt do it im doing it may 7 and the TOEFL at april.i got 95% in school i dont know how to convert it to gpa like 4.0 or something like that, and I dont know what are ECA’s.

ECA=Extra Curricular Activities
Your percentage is fine. If you will be taking the test on May 7th, you need to practice a lot!

We dont have a lot of ECAs here ,so i am only in a soccer team and i told my dad i want to work or do something at his work place he said he will(he works in Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation,he is the medical director there)so is that ok or should i look for more ECAs,because i saw that a lot of universities like ppl who has more ECAs done. And btw im studying hard for the SAT i got the blue book and 1100 words you need to know,do i need something else essential or not,and thanks for your help, appreciate it.

Well, for the meantime, you just keep on practicing with the blue book. Its a really helpful book.
I can see that you don’t have a lot of ECs. You see, ECAs are really important for US colleges but not the most important thing. If you excel in other areas, if you do very well in your academics, SAT, TOEFL and write an excellent essay, there won’t be a huge problem. But, its always beneficial to have some ECs.

By the way, how much are you willing to pay?

if you mean for books im willing to pay 300$ or more if its neccessary, cause I really want to ace the test

Nah…I mean, how much are you willing to pay for your education in the US?

40000$ max or maybe more if its worth it.

Are you willing to pay 40k every year? If yes, then you can goto some of the best colleges for nano tech!

can you tell me some of these colleges?

There are some really great engineering colleges…let me check them out and I’ll PM you a list!

ok, thanks a lot confidential2015 you are really the best 103 views on this thread and you are the only one who helped me

Hehe…thank you for the compliments! I will PM you a list within an hour.
