Hey guys this is my first post here as I signed up about 10 minutes ago and I am feeling the pressure :-S .
Not sure how everything works here exactly but I'll give it a go.

ACT:31 composite
GPA: normally scaled out of 100 so I guess I'd be around 3.3 or 3.4
Rigorous courses (6/7 APs taken)
4s on all AP exams
100+ Community service hours
Involved in a few clubs
Internship at a law office
Worked as a teacher's assistant
Hopefully good recs and a good college essay

I guess I'm looking at NYU,Penn State, Fordham, Binghampton, Stony Brook U etc.

I really appreciate all that you guys do here to help people like me. Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the other universities, but for NYU your GPA seems borderline low and your ACT composite doesn’t seem too high either. Depending on what you want to major in, for example Stern Business School admissions is more competitive than the overall NYU admissions, it should be around a low reach.

Thanks blu5959 I figured as much. Anyone else have any opinons? Chance/match?

I’m presuming you are a NY resident. I think your chances are solid at Binghamton and Stony Brook; Fordham is a high match, but you probably won’t get much in the way of aid from them. NYU Arts & Sciences is also probably a high match; other divisions are reaches, with Stern probably out of reach. Penn State is a high-match/low reach if you are from out of state. Saying that, your stats are pretty similar to my younger son’s, and he got into most of the colleges he applied to. He had excellent leadership ECs, though, along with glowing recommendations, and a high weighted GPA (he was a full-IB student).
