New here, what are my chances at Hopkins or UPenn?

Hi, I'm new on this site, and I was just hoping you could help me.

I'm currently a junior in High School and I have taken my SATs, but I have not received my score reports yet, so I know it will be difficult for you to guys to decide what my chances are at Hopkins or UPenn, but I was just wondering how I look so far. My guidance counselor said I have a chance at Penn, but I'm not so sure, based on my grades, so please let me know what you think, guys.

So here is what I have so far:

My cumulative GPA so far: 4.72 (of 5)

Freshman Year (year-end grades):

English 1 Honors - A
African & Asian Studies Honors - B+
Biology Honors - B+
Geometry Honors - A
Latin 2 Honors - A

Sophomore Year (year-end grades):
Algebra 2 Honors - B
AP U.S. Government and Politics - B+
Chemistry Honors - A
English 2 Honors - A
Latin 3 Honors - A
Western Civilizations Honors - A

Junior Year (1st & 2nd Quarter grade averages):
AP English Language and Composition - A
AP Physics Mechanics - A
AP U.S. History - A
IB Psychology - A
Latin 4 Honors - A
Math Analysis/Trigonometry Honors - A

I also took a summer Microbiology course at the community college nearby, and passed with an A, but I don't know how much that counts.

Volunteer at local hospital, 3 hours per week, for about a year now
Volunteer tutor for children grades 1-8, 2 hours per week, for about a year also
Mock Trial (attorney position) - 2 years now
Academic Decathlon - 2 years now
I've been doing ballroom dancing for 2 years, but I don't compete

I have taken my SATs and will be taking my AP tests this year, so I don't have those stats yet, so please try to evaluate me based on what I have. And also, I really feel like my extracurriculars are lacking. Please let me know what you think and what are my chances at UPenn or Hopkins (I know it's a long shot). Thanks!

Its hard to say how grades will affect you, but your other areas look strong. not that you can really “make up” for your grades in other areas, but a strong essay and scores definitely help to show the admissions counselors that you will do well in their school.

Forget Hopkins and UPENN - you are more likely to get shot there then get a degree!! West Philly is D-a-n-g-e-r-o-u-s! The low lifes walk all around the campus and are the same people they hire for security!! Hopkins…NO…same thing. Try Princeton!

Hopkins isn’t as dangerous as everyone makes it out to seem. You’re grades and ECs so far seem good. I would just work on the EC’s a bit more and try for some research. Also make sure you do well on your standardized tests. Other than that you seem in pretty good shape for both. Best of luck!
