SATS: I haven't taken them yet, but this october i took the PSATS and got a 680M 680V and 650W. I'm hoping these will get a lot better once i take the SAT classes and do 8 billion more of them cause that was my first time.

**going to a really competitve public school in MA (3rd in state)

Grades/APs: I get all A's or A+'s with 2 A-'s freshman year.
this year im taking AP Bio which first semester is an A, AP French which is an A or A-, AP English which is a B+, and AP US History which is an A+ and all my other honors classes are A's. Next year I'll take AP eng, AP phys, AP calc, AP french, AP Euro

Rank-- will be either 1 or 2 unless i really blow up later in the year lol

EC's:

Debate-- Part of the National Forensic League, triple ruby member, was an octofinalist/quarterfinalist at a handful of national tournaments, 2nd at hall of fame tournament, qualified for states every year since i was a freshman, qualified for the National Tournament of Champions in '04 but i got surgery and couldn't go :/ << hope to be pres or vice pres next year

Athletics-- 1 yr basketball, 2 yrs fieldhockey, jr year then started track cause i got surgery (gahh) and FH was too much of a "contact sport." ill be doing that sr year too.

Randoms: Amnesty International, Diversity Alliance, math team, science league, << pres of a couple of those hopefully next year

My community service hours all come from being a science peer tutor, and working with the Council On Aging

My "hook" I geuss would be the "woman in science" thing. summer '05 i went to russia to work in a radio-astronomy lab wrote a 20 pg research paper the works. It got perfect scores from the russian academy of science/affiliated with Moscow University and i got 9 college credits for the whole thing.

summer '06 I'll be studying high energy phenomena at Harvard doing some sort of research project with that as well

I've taken more than twice the amount of science classes required to graduate, gotten a couple "achievment awards," and am sending the paper i wrote to a couple competitions so hopefully thats works out.

^^^^ thanks for anyyy feedback :)

its all about the SATs

whats up with juniors wanting to know? chill out...

jenny, my daughter is a junior too and is looking at some of the same schools. Your GPA, coursework and EC's directed towards science look good to me. Though I don't think it's all about SAT's, I do believe you should look at being "within the range" of what these schools are looking for. So I'd recommend along with taking your SAT classes, take as many practice tests as you can from the College Board Official SAT book (or their online class which had additional tests) and make sure you understand the answers. Have you taken any SAT II's yet? If not, this will complicate your test taking schedule somewhat. If you are planning on taking Math 2 and Biology, May might be a good time since you'll have been studying for AP exams anyway. Lastly, all of the schools you've listed (except Bucknell which I'm unfamiliar with) are reach or reach/match, so get yourself some solid matches and for sure safeties. Perhaps some rolling schools such as UMichigan, UWashington & UWisconsin, all of which are very good for science. Best of luck!

Might want to look at Holy Cross and Bowdoin both SAT optional.

O.K. you most definitely need safety schools.
