new here

This is going to be a useless topic, but I am new here so i thought I would introduce myself.

=) I am still a little clueless on this site.

Hi... don't worry... soon you'll go through the typical CCer progression

New-->Amazed at people's stats---->newbie threads--->Taking with a grain of salt--->contributing

Or maybe you won't. :)

=)ahhaaha i have been a lurker lately, but i think some of these symptoms may occur. hehe

I was a lurker for like 1.5 years before I actually posted on the forums. I'm still blown away with some of the stuff on here, but you have to take it all with a grain of salt and not let it get to you or force you to downplay your potential. Remember, it's the Internet.

welcome to CC. dont become addicted xD

She probably will be once college decisions approach.

How old are you anyways, spinninjenny?

Just wait until you see how many amazing people get rejected from colleges! It's worked wonders on my confidence..

i actually got lost in the 'what are my chances' threads. it was not a pleasant experience.

then i found the accepted RD threads in the ivy league school forums. got within an inch of just quitting and throwing away my hopes.

but here i am.

Here's a hint of advice to preserve your sanity - do not, by all means, lurk in to the "What are my Chances?" forum. If you value your personal worth, you will not step into those threads. They make you feel as if you have contributed nothing to humanity and to yourself. ;)

Yeah, those threads are designed to be braggy (must admit, I've done it myself), and you shouldn't compare yourself anyways. It's not healthy or realistic, and I'd say it's safe to say about half the stuff on here is bs. I should learn to take my own advice. :)

Looking at other people's chances pushes me to work harder.

However, if you're below a certain threshold or are weak of heart there's always the risk that it will completely demolish any thread of self-esteem or self-worth you might've had.

yeah, the best forums are obvi High school Life and SAT/ACT. The SAT/ACT people are crazy with their scores, but have great strategies and good book recommendations. I owe at least 300+ points (over my 3 SAT II and SAT I) to CC

welcome, i was a lurker for a few months before i decided to join.

welcome to CC
o dear now you've ruined ur life
u will be addicted and all ur grades will go down and u will ask urself y in the world did u join because there are so many talented and intelligent individuals
ah well :)

Don't be a victim and quit this site :P

o thats too late. he already signed up

she signed up.
yes, i am jenny and i am 15 haha. i have a while before college decisions. but thanks everyone!

I don't go in the "chances" forum anymore...

Two years of watching people I thought were shoo-ins with their amazing stats get rejected, and decent, but not amazing people get into the best colleges kinda made chancing seem useless. Accept admissions is pretty random and you'll be fine...

strongly agree.

Welcome to the Board Jenny.

Hey, Jenny,

You probably made a big mistake by signing up here :p. Ah, well, it is a great board if you are seeking for a college preparation help, but it usually is a time-waster. What I am trying to say is, use it smartly.
