New incoming exchange student

<p>Hello all,
I'm an Israeli student, coming the the UIUC on an exchange program for the fall semester.
I'm finding it confusing dealing with accommodation.
I've tried browsing the university site but got so many pages regarding accommodation, I didn't know where to start.
I'd love a good advise about where to look for accommodation solutions, where to find out which housing facilities are still available (I know it's rather late to look for a place), and how do the prices go.
In addition I'm still trying to figure out the classes registering system.
How do I find out if the classes I wish to attend are not full?
And how do I set up my weekly timetable?
As you can see, I've many questions.
I'd love it if someone would be a sort of a guide for me.
I should add that I plan to take classes in Economics, in case the departments location is important.
Thank you very much in advance,
Ori.</p>

<p>You need to talk to UIUC counselors. They can help you with all of this. Just schedule an appointment there. Apartments are probably all picked over, but dorms might have something. This is really late though to be looking into any of that.
But really, talk to the people there, they are the ones who really know the answers.</p>

<p>Hey,</p>

<p>I’m an exchange student too (from the UK). Yeah, I have found a lot of the information just randomly browsing the website, because I didn’t want to leave it all too late, have the classes I want full up etc etc. I submitted my accommodation application ages go, but I have heard nothing =(</p>

<p>Have you activated all the stuff you need to activate (ID, passwords etc)?</p>

<p>If you haven’t looked already, this website should help:</p>

<p>[International</a> Student and Scholar Services - University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign](<a href=“http://www.ips.uiuc.edu/isss/students/index.php?catID=2&pageID=163]International”>http://www.ips.uiuc.edu/isss/students/index.php?catID=2&pageID=163)</p>

<p>This is all about the logging in and whatnot, click on “help”:</p>

<p>I emailed around aswell. If you have all your passwords and whatever, then you can register for courses here:</p>

<p><a href=“https://apps.uillinois.edu/selfservice/[/url]”>https://apps.uillinois.edu/selfservice/&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

<p>When searching for courses, the little “c” on the left means that class is full and now closed. Hope I helped! I found it all a bit complicated before getting some help via email.</p>

<p>xxx</p>

<p>p.s. um… i hope i haven’t misdirected you and done a load of things wrong :s</p>

<p>oh and you can check your timetable there (last link) after you have registered. Sorry about my lack of info on accommodation!</p>
