New Jeopardy host preference? / Jeopardy updates

Not my wheelhouse, but as a syndicated show, aren’t ad spots determined by the local affiliates?

I think it’s a mix of local and show-produced. For example, there are GEICO ads often before Final Jeopardy that tie into a graphic of the gecko standing in front of the clue board that I assume come from the show itself.

I was hoping Lavar Burton would be better. I felt the same about Aaron Rodgers.

Still think Mayim Bialik was the best. I also liked Dr. Gupta and Robin Roberts.

Third time is definitely not a charm,at least not for me. I think LeVar is very disappointing given the high expectations
and hope the people picking a permanent host do not bow to any major outside pressure regarding LeVar or other contestants for that matter. I cannot see myself wanting to watch him regularly. There are others I would not want to watch regularly, including Dr. Oz, Katie Couric, and Bill Whitaker.

I agree. If anything, he was worse tonight. M favorite is still Mike Richards…is that his name? The producer?

Tonight was my first time to watch LeVar. :grimacing:

Not sure what was off for me. The pacing for sure.

I will say the questions/categories were a little strange tonight. The last word in a movie? It just wasn’t fun.

I, too, like Mike Richards the best, and then Buzzy. I think Buzzy would be even better with daily contestants, not just champions.

I like LeVar, he doesn’t have a great voice for it but he’s enthusiastic.

I’m looking forward to Joe Buck, I think he’s going to knock it out of the park. Has the voice, used to being quick on the fly. Funny.

For some reason, so many of my friends can’t stand Joe Buck. They would boycott if he were made permanent. lol

I think that is an advantage of Richards. Anyone else brings a certain level of notoriety with some given group of people who are not fans.

Joe Buck is very controversial.

Current champ apparently annoys others as well:

One thing I like about Jeopardy is there are no style points. You win by outscoring your opponents. Some contestants and champs are very likeable. Others less so. Some have strong personalities. Others are odd/different. But name of the game is to win.

And from the show’s standpoint, getting fans talking is a good thing.

Yeah, that was a weird category.

If Joe Buck becomes permanent host I’ll never watch again. (Same with Oz )

The current champ is getting a PhD from Yale in CS, focusing on AI. I’m getting used to him.

My favorite has been Robin Roberts, followed by Mayim Bialyk. The producer was a big meh in our house. Mixed on Aaron Rogers.
I wish they’d given the woman that Alex wanted a chance.

LeVar had a big and obvious goof tonight. Ruled the response incorrect, score was reduced briefly and then LeVar said the response was correct (and it clearly was).

Per our local paper, Matt Amodio (current champ) was valedictorian of area public high school. And got his undergrad degree at Ohio State.

His $74k today would have been third highest one day total (pre-James).

LeVar’s turn is over. I did not enjoy him on Jeopardy and hope the next two guest hosts are better. Of course, lots of people do want him as permanent host so what do I know!

Big Burton fan, but he was terrible tonite. A long pause on the Final Jeopardy answer is unexcusable.

Yes, that pause was unacceptable! I think he’s relying too much on his note cards.

Liking this guy so far. I’d never heard of him.
