New Jeopardy host preference? / Jeopardy updates

It’s possible that she has other previous engagements on her calendar that she needs to get through that caused some roadblocks. Perhaps going forward her calendar clears of a majority of other obligations with Jeopardy being the priority.

Yesterday’s episode was infuriating. The defending champ, who defeated Jonathan the prior day, had a little less than $2K. The other 2 contestants both has zero dollars.

The champ hits the single Jeopardy daily double. She bets slightly more than half her money!!! BET IT ALL—it was so early in the game, getting it incorrect would just reset the game to the start.

As @saillakeerie mentioned, the game is back to “small-ball” style of play, to use a baseball term. Top to bottom, small conservative bets, etc.

Yes, and all 3 contestants yesterday were less than exciting. I know that shouldn’t matter, but I do find I tend to enjoy the shows more when the contestants’ play and personalities seem interesting, and they have some charisma. Looking forward to seeing who the next one will be to step up after Jonathan.

I came to like Matt. His charisma was his “awkwardness” and his quirks such as replying “What is…” even if it was a person.

Same here with Matt. I ended up really liking him. His personality was part of his charm.

Matt was impressive for the breadth of knowledge. He pulled some crazy answers out of no where. Jonathan knew so much about literature, movies, theater, but I never thought ‘oh, he’s going to be a big big money winner.’ Liked him, though.

We haven’t had Jeopardy! in three days. First World Series and tonight football.

Ken starts his second stint as host. Fitting for him to be the host for today’s show given everything he means to the show given that today is the one year anniversary of Alex’s passing.

Tread carefully, @saillakeerie , all the Aaron Rodgers chat from last week was purged from this page, in case you haven’t noticed.

Was away from board for about 10 days. So I didn’t notice anything being purged from this page last week. Edited my post. Go Ken!! I expect he will say something about Alex on today’s show.

News about Aaron Rodgers does seem to fit into the thread title/ focus on “Jeopardy updates” as former contestants and fans do have opinions on him, in relation to Jeopardy. Not clear though on what we can and cannot talk about here so probably IS best to “tread carefully.”

I’m looking forward to seeing Ken tonight.

Unfortunately, the deleted posts about Aaron Rodgers had absolutely nothing to do in relation to Jeopardy!

They kinda did have Jeopardy relevance, in terms of acceptance/rejection of science, and a game show that revels in truth and fact and knowledge. This game, as we all know, punishes you (deducts $$) for wrong answers.

Let’s move on from Aaron Rodgers. He most assuredly will not be the next permanent host.

I started the thread and hope it doesn’t get shut down , so I guess we need to be careful with our posts. Stay cool!

Looking forward to tonight!

Good, competitive game tonight and thought Ken did well.

Interesting that when Mayim was hosting, she was introduced as the host of Jeopardy (she was officially named as one, I guess). Ken tonight was introduced as hosting Jeopardy.

Read an article today which indicated that Ken wasn’t told at time of taping that today’s episode would be aired on the anniversary of Alex’s death. Everyone else supposedly knew but they didn’t want to tell Ken. Though he did know it would be aired the Monday after daylight savings time ended. But I guess he didn’t put the two together (not necessarily knowing the date for DST). They did put up a page at the end of the show showing birth and death dates and noting Alex is missed every day.

Also read there will be 3 weeks of Ken shows. And then a tournament which hasn’t been named to the public. Speculation is it will be a professor tournament because the show aired promos for professors to take the Jeopardy test in the summer.

Ken is very natural as the host. He has spent so much time on the show watching Alex host and is so very dedicated to the show that it makes sense he would be.

I like Jennings’s joke about the reply to the Wrath of Khan clue. Nice injection of humor!

Ken and Mayim have each hosted more than 2 weeks of shows. Seems to me that the longer someone hosts, the more comfortable she/he gets with it and going a little off script. On the 1-2 weeks stints, I think hosts were nervous and didn’t want to mess up. Host for a long time and you can make the show yours a little. Not talking drastic changes but just subtle stamps to make it your show and have some fun with it.

I just watched last night’s episode and thought Ken did a great job. He actually seemed a little more comfortable than Mayim to me.

I was surprised by the hedge farm, hedge fund ruling tonight. Ken said he hadn’t ruled yet but it seemed like the contestant was able to make two different guesses, first one wrong. Seemed strange to be able to give two different answers but clearly must be okay.
