Nobody got Paul McCartney either (much to this Beatle fan’s dismay LOL).
@FallGirl My husband got the final tonight. I didn’t but as soon as he said it, I knew he was right.
Been some talk recently about why there are so many super Jeopardy champs (10 or more wins). 9 players did that in the 19 since since the 5-day win cap was lifted. Have had 3 this season (Matt Amodio at 38, Jonathan Fischer (who beat Matt and went on to win 11 games) and Amy – 29 and counting).
Some presumably would say its weak competition because some candidates are not willing to travel due to Covid. Show has made it easier to take the test (can take it any time online) and next round auditions are via Zoom rather than in person. There are also now super-preppers for the show. A ton of stats, question data bases, practices for buzzer timing, etc that is available to contestants. But not everyone puts in the same amount of time. Likely a combination of all of the above. Buzzy Cohen recently compared it to tennis. At one point, players practiced tennis but didn’t really train otherwise, focus on diet, etc. That isn’t the case now but at one point, only some took the more intense approach. Right now there are effectively “on my couch fans of Jeopardy” contestants competing against contestants who are intensely prepared. Results in a lot of runaway games.
What’s with these easy ones lately that nobody gets? PT-109?
@sevmom I agree.
Also, no one got the Final Jeopardy question? I did!
I got it. Although I do think the wording, while accurate, could have been better. I probably spent 15 seconds trying to decifer the clue.
I am really liking Ken over Mayim. I wonder when, or if they are going to make a permanent host.
I prefer Ken too.
I got final Jeopardy! fairly quickly tonight. I do best in the truly trivia (as opposed to real knowledge) categories. And I think I saw SJP playing ***** on Broadway when I was young and she was younger. I think she was the understudy that night but then went on to get the full time gig.
It bugs me that Mayim is “the host of Jeopardy” while Ken is “hosting Jeopardy”. Jennings is infinitely better than he was last year when he took over after Alex’s death. He is less robotic and much warmer.
Show has always been careful/thoughtful with its wording. Mayim was announced as a host of the show. Ken hasn’t been other than as either a guest host or interim host. Presumably they decided not to go with “guest host” as I think they did with the guest hosts. Or “interim host.” Particularly if you would say Mayim as the host. Seems to me to be a big who cares.
Ken has definitely gotten better. Much more comfortable. Was in a very difficult spot when he guest hosted being the first to follow Alex. His love of the show has always been evident.
I believe that the current season shows will run into July. Could have pernament host for next season. Guess we shall see.
Jeopardy national college championship starts February 8th in prime time. Mayim should host per original hosting duties they announced.
I think Ken is doing a great job. I have no issues with him as permanent host. He is very good at not making it about him, and he thinks quick on his feet. He is WAY better than Aaron Rodgers, and he is more fun and interesting than Biyalik.
I like both Mayim and Ken as hosts, but Ken got a lucky break as I see it. He was disappointing at his tryout and although he is definitely good at hosting now, I wonder how some of the others who were disappointing during the process would have done with more experience?
I actually thought Ken did fine during the tryouts, as well as most. But what do I know.
I mentioned Brayden Smith, a 5 time champion, in my original post. So sad that he died so young and wonder how he would have done in a Tournament of Champions. His parents have filed a lawsuit regarding his death.
I got Final Jeopardy tonight and none of the contestants did.

Me too.
Me too.
Will be interesting to see if Amy passes Matt. Anybody think she will pass Ken?
I think she will pass Matt. I don’t think she’ll pass James or Ken for money.
