Very obscure. My mother was born in Revere and that was 86 years ago so I don’t imagine there are many people from outside the area that knew it was ever called anything other than Revere.
I wonder whether anyone will confess to the guilty pleasure of actively rooting against these long-running champs. Call it schadenfreude, if you like, but that is what keeps me interested during these long runs. When a champ pulls into uncatcheable territory in a game I lose all interest in it. Who wants to watch the Yankees trounce a cellar-dweller, after all? Rooting for Amy is like rooting for Scrooge McDuck as he bathes in his coin-filled vault. One longs for a Beagle Boy to show up and put an end to it.
I definitely like/enjoy more competitive games. I like Amy. If I didn’t , I admit it would probably be harder to watch all these runaway games. There was a woman a few months ago that seemed competitive (against Matt maybe but can’t remember). But, she was so over the top(at least to me), that I doubt I could have kept watching for 30+ shows . I could barely watch for one! But, I guess I’ll never know!
Another runaway game. I have to say I am getting a little frustrated by the level of competition. There is no buzzer advantage for a repeat contestant (by having more practice with it) in Final Jeopardy but Amy was still the only one to get it right tonight. I am not Jeopardy material but even I got it right!
The male challenger tonight really irritated me—he found the Single Jeopardy daily double, and had about $2400 on hand–Amy had maybe around 8-9K? No brainer–bet it all–it was early enough in the game to make it all back. What does he bet??? A measly thousand bucks. And of course he answered correctly.
Drives me nuts when player in Single Jeopardy are not playing to win. Gotta make bold moves to beat a 30+ time champ!
When James was on his marathon run it was reported that the ratings shot way up. I wonder how the ratings are doing with Amy?
I remember her and feel the same way.
YES— I commented at the time that here ‘bubbly’ affect was more suited for Wheel of Fortune than Jeopardy, where we would have had to tolerate her schtick for a single episode. I was incredibly happy she lost, so we wouldn’t have to listen to her another day.
Ratings are up:

I watch the show and challenge myself to see how many I can answer. My wife watches about 1/2 the shows with me and we challenge each other. So to me, runaway games don’t bother me. There are other game shows that create drama with their scoring such that pretty much any game will come down to the end. If its last second drama you want, Jeopardy often times won’t be the show for you and other shows are. To me, that’s fake drama Jeopardy doesn’t need. Though other people disagree.
And given how many people didn’t like Matt, I would think some people here would be rooting for Amy to beat his win record on Monday.
Effectively the show already has a win limit in that most winners don’t win 5 games (and incredibly few win 10 or more). So why put a limit on that isn’t necessary? Watching people who are incredibly good at the show (and Amy is, Matt, James, Ken, etc. were as well) is fun to watch. Appreciate greatness.
The lack of suspense often on Jeopardy doesn’t bother me. The game show with an even bigger “lack of suspense” problem, IMO, is Wheel of Fortune. Most nights, whoever wins the travel prize package round, usually in the middle of the game, cannot be caught and wins the chance for the big spin. You give someone a 15K trip, that’s a lot of money to make up by spinning the wheel for a few hundred at a time.
To me the issue with Wheel of Fortune is its too slow. They effectively have what, 10-12 “questions” a show (if that)? Jeopardy has (at least potential for) 61 questions a show. Spinning the wheel takes time, guessing letters, moving to next contestant, etc. Better now tho that contestants don’t go shopping after each round. LOL
And I don’t usually watch more than a couple minutes of WoF just watching when tuning into Jeopardy which is right after WoF.
Let’s get back to Jeopardy in this thread!
I think Wheel of Fortune may be coming up because it seems to come either before or after Jeopardy in many TV markets. It comes before Jeopardy where I am , so we have been catching the end of Wheel of Fortune many times lately before moving on to Jeopardy. We started watching Jeopardy more in general at the end of Alex’s run and then stayed with it with all the host drama. And now we have these runs going on, which is keeping our attention. Still wondering why many of the contestants going up against these champions on a run just don’t seem that competitive.
The main focus will organically remain on Jeopardy. News on Jeopardy will evolve and a new week with Jeopardy starts tomorrow!

Back to Jeopardy!
Flabbergasted that someone who doesn’t know about Crockett and Tubbs can go so far in Jeopardy!
Congratulations to Amy!
At least she didn’t guess “The Beverly Hillbillies” like one of the challengers!
Wow!
Congrats to Amy on a historic run
Congrats to Rhone as well.
(And I did get the final Jeopardy today!)
I guess I shouldn’t have looked here before it was over here. It’s on 730 EST where I am . Oh well.
Just finished watching!
Sad to see Amy go, but congrats to Rhone.
Different time zone? Just surprised?
I thought the Final Jeopardy was easy! Can’t believe Amy didn’t know it.
