New Jeopardy host preference? / Jeopardy updates

I’ve noticed that too.

I’ve also been noticing many of the contestants, mostly women, asking" may I have…" when choosing a category.

Never heard of Lizzie Borden, and after googling, not sure why an accused murderer in 1892 would be taught in history books. (also, never skipped rope)

That was a great movie! I was thinking about it when the question came up.
The Legend of Lizzie Borden (TV Movie 1975) - IMDb

A week of leaders going into Final Jeopardy betting everything. 3 different contestants made those bets. 4 of 5 of the bets ended up in wins so maybe no need to change the approach.

Not sure what percentage of Final Jeopardy questions are answered correctly. But have seen some info that its about 40%. Given Jeopardy contestants are smarter than your average bear (or at least know more trivia type info that said bear), I would say on balance FJ questions are not common knowledge. In the end, if I know the question, I am more likely to think its an easy question.

One of the college kids said “thank you” to Mayim several times during the game.

Ken is leaving the Chase. Is it to allow him to host Jeopardy full time? Or unrelated to Jeopardy.

I hope so. I think he’s perfect for the job.

The Final Jeopardy tonight cracked me up. I went in thinking the answer was obvious but only one of the contestants answered correctly . I can’t believe only 1 of them got it correct. But what I thought was funny was that two of them answered with the same incorrect person , mistaking a 77 year old for a 95 year old!

I’m guessing Diana Ross would not be thrilled!

That’s pretty much what I said to husband! It was crazy!

She’s gonna be pissed.

I knew the correct answer, but did not know until recently that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016. Such a heartbreaking disease.

Absolutely heartbreaking and his last concert with Lady Gaga was wonderful. He went out with grace and style! And a wonderful voice!

Agree @sevmom. D and I saw Tony Bennett with Lady Gaga in concert about 6-7 years ago and it was fabulous!

If you get a chance, watch the 60 Minutes segment on Tony Bennett. It is an outstanding piece of journalism. They covered the concert with Lady Gaga. I was practically in tears. It really is a must-see segment.

I wasn’t practically in tears when it first aired. I WAS in tears!

We went to Wolf Trap to see him and what a surprise! Lady Gaga joined him onstage. They are so sweet together. Have seen several specials about them, his 90th BD and recent ones as mentioned here. I am so sad he has Alzheimer’s.

Since Jeopardy changed the rule limiting champs to 5 wins in 2003, there have been 13 “super champions” (contestants winning 10+ games). This season alone has 4 such champions (Mattea’s run is still going – in terms of aired shows in any event). All 4 are on the top 20 regular show winnings list. Some people believe Covid had resulted in weaker contestant pools. Some think it has given people more time to prepare and some have used it better than others. Maybe a combo of the two. Should be an interesting tournament of champions in the fall.

In terms of hosts, didn’t think I would like having alternating hosts and I don’t. Like having the same host week in, week out. Presumably a permanent host will be announced by the start of next season.

I don’t really dislike Mattea but am ready to move on from her run. A former neighbor went up against her and did well but did not prevail in the end!

I still prefer Ken as permanent host.

Mattea should have lost yesterday. Had the lead going into Final but it wasn’t a runaway. Caitlin was in third, was the only contestant to get FJ right but didn’t bet enough to pass Mattea. Ken described it as an escape which it was.

Respondents to this poll agree with you:

Yes, Just didn’t bet enough. Mattea has had close calls on more than one occasion.
