I was ready to move on from Mattea but look forward to seeing her again in the Tournament of Champions.
So she lost?
Yes, last night
And after a few close calls.
I intentionally avoid this thread when I have not yet seen the most recent episode of Jeopardy. Sometimes I will first watch on youtube the episode that I missed, and then read this thread.
It was a close game and came down to final jeopardy. Of course, she has had multiple close games and was able to pull through in previous ones.
My husband loved Mattea. He said he isn’t watching for awhile he is so sad. We both enjoyed watching her and all her dialogue and hand gestures. I think both Mattea and Amy put faces to the LGBTQ community. I hope they opened some eyes that they are just like you and me.
I really liked Amy, Mattea was just okay to me. Looking forward to seeing them in Tournament of Champions. The woman who finally knocked Mattea off will not be a one and done. I liked the Vanderbilt guy tonight but it was not meant to be!
I miss Ken. Same thing-Mayim is just okay to me but I really like Ken.
I enjoyed Mattea as well. Its interesting to read articles about her loss and everyone focuses on the $1 difference. If she had bet $2 less, Mattea would have won. But doing so, Mattea would have risked a loss had she gotten the final right. Mattea made the right cover bet in Final Jeopardy. Danielle bet just enough for her to win if Mattea was wrong and Danielle was correct. The $1 difference was just the result of each making the right FJ bets. Danielle could have bet more because she needed Mattea to be wrong to win; risking more would have maximized her winnings.
Danielle adds to the list of super-champ defeaters who didn’t lose their next game. Will she win enough games to qualify for the ToC and give Mattea a chance at a re-match?
I have never heard it referred to as the BosWash Corridor.
H and I both thought the BosWash question was strange. Too bad the guy got it on a daily double( I think- if I’m remembering that right? ).
Me neither, and I lived within it for several years. (but I did understand the question and got the right answer.)
Maybe it is how Californians refer to it?
Frankly I was somewhat unimpressed by the new champ and all 3 players. They left too much money unearned (thru wrong responses and leaving clues on the board). Karim was a very nice young man but totally overnervous and overmatched. There seemed to be many questions that someone of a certain age would have gotten right, but not youngin’s.
And yes, I live smack dab in the BosWash thingy and have NEVER heard that term. Requiring a 3-part answer also seemed unfair.
no way, I’m 3rd gen Californian, and while we do some really stupid stuff on occasion (well, ok frequently), we wouldn’t care enuf about that corridor to even think about creating such a monstrosity of a term.
Sounds more like something a political campaign or press folks came up with.
I had never heard of it until last night though I am from flyover territory so not a surprise. LOL
This gives some background on BosWash:
I never heard that term and I live in NY (although I did correctly guess the answer).
38 years in DC area and never heard the term, but both H and I got the correct answer(s).
Another unimpressive game again today. Knew yesterday’s winner was headed toward a one-day reign as champion. Shocked that the math teacher got a math clue wrong!
I didn’t think any of them would last long - they didn’t seem destined for that. But, how exciting to be able to win even once! Or even compete!
That was a weird clue. Said equal circles are those for which either of these 2 measurements are equal. Answer was radius and diameter. Been a long time since my geometry days, but can you have circles with the same diameter but different radii? Or vice versa?
