I got the new mailing today! Included was an authorization to buy two pairs of boots and a couple of other pairs of shoes. It also came with the Soldier's Gazette and instructions on how to prepare physically for Beast.

I don't know about you guys, but there's NO WAY I can run a continuous 4 miles at a MINIMUM of 8 minute per mile pace. I could do that for the first 2.5-3, but not 4. Ay!

Going to Nellis AFB to buy boots and low quarters tomorrow.

I have a question--are the low quarters the same as the oxfords we are supposed to break in? I live in athletic shoes, and I don't want to buy a pair of oxfords if I don't have to!

They absolutely require the transcript. Please take a look at the materials that came with the appointment. One of the gray cards is for your final semester grades. You should probably check with your guidance counselor as to procedures for your school. Good luck!

On the question about final transcript.... Yes it is required. Bottom line is that it is required before reporting for R-Day. If they do not have it by then you will not be staying on post for the summer. My older son is currently a Yuk (Sophomore). The week before R-Day he received an e-mail from the Admissions Office asking where it was. He had turned in the card to his Guidance Counselor and did not think any more about it. By then the Registrar's Office at his high school was closed for the summer. As luck would have it the final transcript showed up at USMA a couple of days later. You can monitor your records received on the Candidate Information website.
