<p>Hey guys,</p>

<p>As you probably read..im a really new member</p>

<p>I just got my first semester grades ...and they were far from pretty. As of now I just want to know what schools to think about aiming for and what schools to disregard.</p>

<p>here it goes..
Public School in California
Pretty Competitve
430 people
rank ~ 5% [ plus or minus 1%]
hardest schedule possible [ believe me....its hard =[ }
Third sophomore in school history to finish calculus by the tenth grade</p>

<p>U GPA: Academic 9-12: 3.80 < every B i got was in an AP or H class...but i sure got a lot of Bs... Bs in...American Lit H AP ushistory AP statistics Spanish 4 H Lit AP physics H Chem H
Academic 10-12: cringe* ....3.78 <---to what extent will this be my doom for UCs?
UC gpa [ 8 semesters weighted] : 4.07
Full Weighted:4.42
SAT: 2300 <--possibly my savior?
SAT II: HUGE weak point 740 Math 740 Chem ...on a better note 800 Us history</p>

ASB officer: 2 years ...school 1200 people?

<p>The major im thinking of is Economics or some type of applied financial study possibly looking to minor in international relations or political science</p>

As you can see I know where I would like to go.... just not where I can actually get in. I would be a lot more confident about UCs but they are notorious because of the fact admissions for them are purely numerical...My GPA..s are not great by any measure especially the UC scale. I recognize I should get into Irvine/riverside/Davis but im not sure what my chances were at the big 3 UCBerk UCLA and UCSD ( UCSD is on the fence because its business/econ program isnt as known). Obviously if you could chance me on my reaches as well I would be thrilled. If ANYONE has a college/university they think I would be a match for that I havnt considered please shout out some names I could use the help. </p>

<p>Sorry for multi-bumping but I could really use some advice. I am really worried because of my academic GPA from 10th to 12th and Im not sure how much that weighs me down…</p>

<p>Even though your unweighted GPA may seem low, you DID take lots of hard classes. So it sorta of balances out.
I’d say you’re a match for the UCs, but I don’t have much knowledge on the other schools.</p>

You have really good grades.
You should try for Cornell anwyays, even if it’s a reach, I’m pretty sure you’d have a chance of getting in.</p>

<p>can i give you a piece of advice move all that commentary away from the schools…it takes time for people to delete what you wrote and then they have to comment on it…probably one of the reasons your not getting chanced too much…im just trying to help you out…</p>

<p>I agree with Csunde. I think the fact that u finished calc by the time you were a sophomore is really impressive. Also the fact that ur schedule is so rigourous along with ur class rank and e/c makes up for ur GPA. Good Luck!</p>
