My son received his letter on December 8th saying he was being recommended for appointment by the Candidate Evaluation Board. The same day we he received a phone call from our Congressman saying that he was appointed to the USMMA.

The more I read the more excited I am getting about it.

My son was recruited as a wrestler from here in Michigan. We will be sending him into LaGuardia the end of March for his visit.

I see that there is a parents group in a number of places. What about the midwest?

Thanks,

Steve Bell

Look forward to a lot of interaction over the coming years!

Congrats CPASteve!!! Yes, Luigi is correct, be prepared for random people to knock on your door and introduce themselves as either KP Alumni, or parent's of KP Grads! It's amazing. I live way out in the country in Virginia, and had 3 people show up at my house. Also, I can't tell you how awesome the parent network is. I've already made many good friends and this is my son's first year!

Congratulations!!!! You should be very proud. Yes, it's a wonderful place to graduate from. It sounds, from what LFWD wrote, you are needed to bring KP up to #1 in wrestling.

Tell Steve, to look up MOM and Dad Guest when he gets to KP. We would love to meet him.

We have been in contact with Charlie Hill a lot so far. Coach Alger called and told Martin to get the application done ASAP in October. I am really impressed thus far.

Martin is off to a good start 16-1 - 15 pins and a Tech thru Wednesday. He will not wrestle again until January 5th.

Would like to hear from other wrestling parents as to your feelings about the USMMA Wrestling Team. It looks to be fairly young and should handle the Coast Guard Academy in early January.

The wrestlers are all great kids and coach Alger is a great mentor of the Mids. My son's plebe year the Regemental Commander first rotation was a wrestler and last year the RC second rotation was a wrestler. I've been told that nine of the last 20 RCs have been wrestlers. Also, the team captain the 2005-2006 season was the honor graduate at BUDS after he graduated KP while two of the USNA wrestlers rang the bell.

Over the summer, Coach Alger was working at the head coach at the Naval Academy's Navy Seal Intensive Wrestling Camp. While he was the head coach, Annapolis wrestlers helped out with the camp along with a couple of Kings Point wrestlers.
After 2 days at the camp, the KP wrestlers were told by the Annapolis guys:

"We have no idea how you manage to last with this guy for an entire season"
