New Members of CMU Class of 2011 - SCS

Anybody? :)

i guess nobody got admitted, that competitive eh? ha ha ha

i know one kid from my hs got in, but im not sure if he's on CC...

though CS is the most competitive department (besides CFA, probably) in CMU, it is not that competitive compared to powerhouses like MIT/Stanford - lots of my peers came here because they got rejected from those schools.

it's not that competitive for girls!!
but then I guess that's cause they don't apply anyways...

I'm CS 2009...

We're better for CS majors that don't like engineering but like discrete math.

I'm going to SCS too!

Im accepted to SCS class of '11. congrats to all who got in.

man i got waitlisted, sighhhhh!

My son was accepted into SCS!

waitlisted :-/

Into CIT, though - maybe I'll accept for CE and try to get in at a later point...

Everyone accepted, join the Carnegie Mellon SCS Class of '11 facebook group!

(No, I didn't start it, just thought I'd try to expand it a bit, lol).

The ECE curriculum is so flexible that it allows you to graduate with a BS taking only a minimum of EE classes (only 4 actually, plus the compulsory math/science core). You can take all other required courses then exclusively in CE. Due to the large number of electives, it's also easy to add a CS minor to your diploma. When making your decision, keep in mind CMU's CE is ranked # 3 in the country by USN&WR.

I'm in! I'm in! I'm so excited... and surprised
^_^ YAY!

Anyone in the SCS class of '11 admitees got any particualer interests/languages that they write in?
I am fluent(if you will) in C and Perl, as well as having dabbled in C++ and a couple others.
I am very interested in robotics and AI, and have built and programmed several robots.
I am also currently working closely with the world's second largest supercomputer in Red Storm at Sandia Labs here in albuquerque as a student intern, although mostly with the data storage system.

anybody else?

wow, Sandia, that's pretty awesome... I've worked most with Java, so that's at least what I'm most comfortable with... also some C and C++....

i'm in!, not sure if im going still waiting on penn. i'm fluent in C++

How were you all notified about the decision (accepted/rejected or waitlisted)? By mail or website?

website...

I know Bourne Shell, C/C++, HTML, Java, JSP/Servlets, Perl/PHP, SQL, and PL/SQL (through classes), but currently I'm learning Javascript and AJAX in general on my own.

I've helped to build and program a few robots (mostly through FIRST), had an internship in the IT department of a large (billion dollar) software company, and done various tech projects for teachers. Nothing like Sandia Labs though.

website yesterday, didnt get anything in the mail till today
