that's kind of silly because one needs to adjust for the size of the school. :-)

there was a similar thread for the 3 wesleyans, ill wesleyan, oh wesleyan and wesleyan in ct.

so, as a bored IWU freshman, here is what i got:

"Wesleyan University Middletown, CT" - 44,500
"Wesleyan University Delaware, OH" - 28,000
"Wesleyan University Bloomington, IL" - 9,810

Adjusting for the respective sizes of the three schools: 3,000 (WU), 1850 (OWU), 2100 (IWU)

you get the following hits per student (haha!):

WU: 14.83
OWU: 15.13
IWU: 4.67

very scientific...lol

Berkeley beats Harvard
Columbia beats Harvard
Harvard beats Stanford, Yale Penn

this thread is a freakshow. I bet all of you guys are unattractive and lonely.

you people have too much time on your hands.

use google to search for porn instead!

P.S. Upenn actually wins because you search for "pennsylvania" and "university"

"USC" beat "UCLA" only because University of South Carolina and University of Southern California both share the acronym "USC", effectively doubling the number of search results. Divide that number by two, however, and UCLA wins.

Oh, the sweet irony of iamkittygalore!

"this thread is a freakshow."

what could you possibly mean?? lol, no really.

University of Texas beats Harvard University. Interpret this as you wish.
[/quote]

Maybe it's because you're not using quotes, so and website about Texas might show up? Because when you use quotes, Harvard beats it.

Wow--- Brown University beats Dartmouth college by a wide margin......
Now its on to Wesleyan University vs. Vassar College.... what's your guess?

do i really need to answer this question or isn't it evident?

i'm only in high school but even i recognize the weak methodology with this insane thread... a school with bad publicity and is cited for that isn't "prestigious" just cause its mentioned.

also, prestige is not important. who care what the average american thinks about where you go to school when they can't even point to where canada is on a map. it only counts in the boardroom or grad school admissions' office... i personally think the LAC's have a better reputation for undegrad education in that case

however this does make a pretty interesting and light-hearted way to evaluate schools.

Okay, "wesleyan university + connecticut" beats "vassar college", but, you can see the difficulty; in both cases you are losing casual references to "Wesleyan" and "Vassar". Not easy when one of the words can stand for about 40 or fifty different colleges, plus a few thousand churches.

Oh ****. It is with sadness that I have to announce that

Denison (out archnemesis) beat Ohio Wesleyan:

Ohio Wesleyan University: 731,000
Denison University: 751,000

As a consolation prize, Ohio Wesleyan did come up ahead of Kenyon though.

Go Denison! :)

I'm not surprised that Cornell is doing better than the rest. Here in the silicon valley, Cornell is viewed about the same as stanford and mit, and HY really don't cut it too much in silicon valley....the harvard and yale guys usually get owned by the science/tech Ivy caliber schools !!....

Huh? Are you saying Harvard is not a good science school? So what are Harvard's science rankings again?

"prestige" is like a high school election: it's a popularity contest. And colleges put good money into advertising themselves in such a way.

search "university" and check out which schools are on the first page

fairly accurate imo...

UCLA vs. UC Berkeley: UCLA wins

a website called THEU.com has ratings for colleges based on surveys filled out by current students and alumni, its really helpful to get an accurate view of the school. The company also puts out DVDs that feature uncensored tours of all different colleges. I found it pretty helpful, check it out!
