New MT program list resource!

Perhaps I'm slow in finding this, but Broadway World now has a very extensive data base of every type of MT program in the U.S. Each listed program has a direct link to the theatre/music webpage of the college that includes the program, so you can save a lot of time! You can access the database from Theater Colleges Student Center (BroadwayWorld.com)

Be sure to look at all the different possibilities for MT programs, ie: musical theatre, music, performance, etc. as some are listed in different spots according to the type of degree. AND if you can find the NYU Steinhardt Vocal Performance in Musical Theater, where my daughter now is, please let me know!

You will find programs you didn't know existed and that have yet to be listed on the Big List here at CC! Good to have all kinds of options in the current competitive MT audition year!

This looks like a great resource!

There are some “hidden” MT programs out there that one won’t find through their list (I’d count Northwestern’s MT Certificate program and do-it-yourself MT programs that kids at Yale and maybe Princeton and Brown create among them) but it will point folks toward a large list of possible options.

Thanks for the pointer!

Although it’s an interesting concept, I’m always skeptical of BWW. They are infamous for using unvetted individuals for their reporting and, from a quick look at this new part of the site, they appear to have forgotten NYU, which is why you can’t find your D’s program! NYU has the largest BFA programs in the country and it’s surprising that whomever is compiling the information for this site has neglected to include them.

I think it may have to do with the fact that they only appear to be listing programs where the degree is listed as a degree in Musical Theatre… JMU is not there either, but the official degree title is Theatre and Dance with the program being Musical Theatre. At NYU it is a degree in Drama, etc…

So, while it may be a great additional resource to find some programs you may not know about, it probably needs to be used in conjunction with others. :)

That’s true, Kat, but they don’t have NYU listed under the BFA in Drama either. :)

Broadway World is a great resource for college searching, and something else to look for is their schools in the spotlight: [BWW Student Center’s School in the Spotlight: Ball State University](http://broadwayworld.com/article/BWW-Student-Centers-School-in-the-Spotlight-Ball-State-University-20111014#)

It’s a great way to find out what notable things that schools are up to!
