I was just wondering what music you guys are listening to at the moment. I want to diversify my iTunes, so the more alternative the better (as long as it's good). Or even if you're just listening to some classic tunes let me know in case I missed them somehow. Please give me a briefish description of the music tambien.

C'mon CCers - it's you're chance to brag about how quirky you're music is!!!!

I like country, but not many others do. I'm particularly fond of Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Reba, Faith Hill, and Lonestar. :D I hate redneck country like Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, etc., though. Carrie Underwood's not bad, although she's a bit more pop than country.

Also, Wicked is the best musical EVER. It's addictive. I really like Enya and Phil Collins too. My favorite classic rock groups are CCR, Mamas & the Papas, Eagles, and Peter, Paul and Mary. I'm also exceedingly fond of Christmas music. I have rather eclectic music interests.

try a mix of Saul Williams(indescribable genius)...Bouncing Souls(surf/skate punk)....The Transplants(techno rock-ish)....MC Lars(post-punk laptop rap).....Reel Big Fish(ska)....and The Boom Bap Project(independant rap), oh and throw some DJ Mummy(techno remix) in there too. That should be diverse enough. You may have a tough time finding any MC Lars or DJ Mummy, but itll be worth it.

I listen to mostly indie stuff:
Stars, Broken Social Scene, Feist, The Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie, Metric, Islands, Kings of Convenience, Rilo Kiley, Sufjan Stevens, Architecture in Helsinki, Voxtrot, etc...

I like lots of different stuff...I'm listening to some Red Hot Chilli Peppers as they just came out with a 28 track double album, it's coming out thursday rather. I like some ska..Streetlight Manifesto, and some local stuff (The Vicars, from western PA..myspace them). Foo Figthers, Incubus, Coldplay as well.

Here are some of my favourite bands at the moment that I would like more of the same from:

Pavement, Stone Roses, Smashing Pumpkins (early stuff), Nirvana (Nevermind), The Fall....

Does anyone want to help me complete that list?

I'm into all kinds of music, but at the moment I am really looking for that psychedelic hard rock mixed with beautiful but hidden melody (if you get what I'm saying :) ), preferably from the early 90's. Any more bands like that? I'd rather go more psychedelic than more hard-rock (no Guns and Roses or any of that crap please)

The Mars Volta, The Casket Lottery (different stuff), and The Islands are pretty amazing. And for what you're looking for, try Dream Theater, M83 (no rock here, but amazing new wave), My Bloody Valentine (a bit similar to the Stone Roses). Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is pretty interesting, The Unicorns are ridiculously quirky, and finally, Explosions in the Sky. No lyrics, but amazing.

And I'm a music snob, sorry in advance guys ^.^;;

Every Jimi Hendrix song, Nivana (All apologies) (Smells like teen spirit) Eric clapton every song of his blues such as buddy guy evry blues artist every rock artist except for kiss and those stupid bands like the ramones. I like Fall out boy, My chemical romance, and etc.

if you are looking for some ALTERNATIVE ROCK, i would reccomend this band called TAKING BACK SUNDAY, they just came out with another new album (called Lounder Now) and i cannot stop listening to it (you can preview some of it on iTunes, "Whats it feel like to be a ghost?" and "Liar" are really good) i think people might classify it as a mix between Relient K and Fall Out Boy (you should just listen to it)...

I reccommend Ted Leo & the Pharamcists -- nice little indie rock group. the easiest album to start with is their newest (shake the sheets)

other than that, I listen to some Broadway (Rent, Phantom, Spamalot, etc), and the Decemberists, Hot Hot Heat, Gorrillaz, Cake, Killers, Jack Johnson, Natasha Beddingfield, Kanye West, Rise Against (only the song Swing Life Away, though)... almost everything that isn't country music (sorry country kids)

My biggest suggestion would be Hard-Fi. They are a great band from Staines. They aren't whiny rockers which is appealing.

or..

If you wanna go for a different feel. Streetlight Manifesto is a great ska band. Their 'Everything Goes Numb' is real good.

As for me, I listen to so many different things. Instrumental movie soundtracks, rock, ska, rap, r&b, anything that allows me to feel the music and intensity.

I love anything classic rock especially The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Doors, Cream, Jimmy Hendrix, The Yardbirds, Derek and the Dominos, and I'm going to stop now because I can go on forever! I also listen to a lot of R&B and Caribbean music.

From your description I think you might like Pearl Jam, I'm sure already listen to them.

I like country, punk-pop, classic rock and jam bands and rap.
Pop-Punk: Cartel, Valencia, Sherwood, Fall Out Boy, Hidden In Plain View, The Starting Line, Armor For Sleep... find more on purevolume.com

country: Brooks N Dunn, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Lonestar, Toby Keith

classic rock/80s hair bands: Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Poison, AC/DC, Guns N Roses

jams bands: Phish, Widespread Panic... also bands like Sublime and Dispatch and OAR

rap: A Tribe Called Quest, Jurassic 5, Kanye West

Also try Ozomatli - good Latin music, but I don't think the guys are all Latin. It's good if you've taken Spanish! The best tracks are Cumbia de los Muertos and Donde Se Fueron.

How about some rap. I only see rock and bands like that. Nappy Roots, Kanye, Biggie, 50 cent ludacris

Regionally bob marley is like a king in the caribbean, there is gyptian, richie spice, jah cure, fanton mojah and other reggae/culture srtists. give em a chance

It's more mainstream than most alternative rock but the new Goo Goo Dolls cd is amazing despite the fact that Johnny Rzenik isn't singing on two of the tracks. Best songs off of it are Feel the Silence, Can't Let it Go, and Stay with You.

Listen to anything Olive_Tree mentioned and add:
-The Who!!
-Led Zeppelin
-The Clash (the very first punk rock.)
-Stevie Ray Vaughan
-Van Morrison
-Supertramp
