New New SAT

I don’t even care if its dumbed down. I will have no idea what to expect no prep books nothing. No one will

There will be prep books because they will announce the date either 2 or 3 years before the actual exam. And College Board will make a new book that correlates with the new SAT, and they know what to put in their prep books because they’re the ones that actually make the test.

Well then there will be one.

Wasn’t two years before spring of 2015 last spring?
They didn’t specify this year at all. They release books for the following year each year so the 2015 prep books should come early next year. Which means everyone will know then if that book is different?

The 2015 book that comes next year will probably help the current rising Juniors and rising Seniors that the new SAT will definitely not affect, but not the rising Freshmen and rising Sophomores, who might be taking the new SAT. Also, it wouldn’t matter if the current rising Sophomores take the test like say this year, they still have to take the spring of 2015 if it will be implemented by then. So this could potentially mean that the rising Sophomores get only one crack at the new, mandatory SAT. If the new SAT will be implemented on Spring of 2016, then the rising Freshmen get only one crack at the SAT.

I don’t like the game that David Coleman is playing here. I suggest that if you are a current rising Sophomore or rising Freshman practicing for the SAT, then take a few practice tests but don’t waste your time on practicing for the SAT. Waste your time practicing for the ACT.

Okay thanks

Another article about revision to the test.

Woah. So it’s coming 2015. Will it be early? Or late? That is the question now.

What’s the likelihood that it actually comes out at its earliest date (spring of 15)? I mean there isn’t that much info about the reforms and they have to have changes for the PSAg finalized and implemented in roughly a year for it to work. Shouldn’t it take more time than that it was just announced in february.

@anonemuss hopefully late so it doesn’t effect us.

I’m looking forward to it. I think this means that the test will likely be less hard for CC’ers. Instead of really hard math questions at the end of a math section, they’ll likely have higher-level math, like trig and calc, which will be a piece of cake to a CC’er

And the fact that the essay and vocab will be gone intrigues me.

No your expected to take it at in junior year. At my school non honors students take alg 2 junior year and trig senior year. I believe it’s the same or similar nationally. They won’t include things that the average American student won’t have learned in class yet if they objective is to make it more similar to the classroom.

Yeah, but Trig isn’t a course at my school. People just stop at AP Calculus, unless you skipped 6th and/or 7th grade math, then you’d be in AP Stat or an Independent Math Study.

I said that because the ACT has trig, especially at the upper-end. Calc is a bit of a reach, but I dropped it in because Pre-Calc technically covers trig and calc and it is technically tested by the ACT and I’d assume that the SAT is trying to be like it [The ACT is gaining on the SAT, so the folks at the CollegeBoard are in panic mode]

I don’t think he ll take out the essay. He might make it more like the GREs or some other reform but I doubt he’ll knock that portion of writing off altogether and I don’t think they’ll add science like an earlier post said because it would only add to the four hours that it takes for the test.

Are you guys gonna take both or one or the other

SAT for lyf3.

Actually, I might try the ACT, but only once. I don’t get the scoring system compared to the SAT

Okay. I haven’t really looked into the ACT at all, but if we are going to be the experimental grade I might take that instead.

Please be later than 2017
