Since it seems that Birnkrant is only for P/T scholars, between New/North and Pardee, which one would you say is the better housing? I like that at New/North, you can have a sink, but my parents are worried that it is a hardcore party all the time and I will not be able to study in it. Has anyone lived in either and tell me how it was?

Pardee.

I lived in Pardee and have lots of friends who lived in New/North. New/North is overrated first of all, it has a great party reputation but really you can party anywhere. You can probably party better in Pardee since you can fly more under the radar. It’s loud and obnoxious and yes there’s puke in the bathroom most of the time. Remember, you can party all you want no matter where you live. So if you live in Pardee and you’re upset that you don’t have any party buddies, nothing stops you from making friends with people who live in New/North.

Odds are in New/North you won’t get a room with a sink, and that convenience isn’t that big of a deal.

One thing to note is Pardee floors are gender segregated, so all odd numbered floors are male and all even numbered floors are female. New/North is mixed so that can be nice. You do end up meeting a lot more people of the opposite sex New/North because of that. Naturally most college freshmen are shy and if you live in Pardee you’re gonna have to leave the comfort of your own floor to find a friend of the opposite sex. Overall not a big deal.

Lastly, Pardee is the most newly renovated dorm. It’s nice. Brand new (year old) furniture, bathrooms redone, clean, etc.

Pardee, y’all.

RSB: My son is a P/T scholar, chose to live at New/North (over Birnkrant) and loved it. Especially loved having a sink in his room, though you have to request such a room. The key is having self discipline in your study habits and selecting a like-minded roommate.

Plus Leavey Library is really close to New/North so I’m definitely planning on utilizing that next year! I study better out of my room anyway, so it works well enough.
