NEW Official Study Guide

What does anyone know about the NEW (2012) Official Study Guide?

There’s a NEW NEW one?

Excuse me for being naive, but I didn’t know that collegeboard released a new version each year. Admittedly it’d be a smart way to make more money, but the “new” SAT has only been around for maybe 6 years with two books.

I feel that they don’t release one each year, and really, what would they have to change?

There’s a new one from Princeton Review but not from College Board.
Is that what you mean?

A new version is to be released next week. The book will come with a DVD. Details are still sketchy about the exact contents. What is known is that it cost 8 to 10 bucks more than before. It will be MORE than twenty dollars at Walmart.

Overview
The Official SAT Study Guide with DVD is the only book that features official SAT® practice tests created by the test maker. With 1,000 pages and more than 20 chapters, it has everything you need to prepare for the SAT.

The Official SAT Study Guide with DVD will help students get ready for the SAT with:

• 10 official SAT practice tests, including 3 recently administered tests

• Detailed descriptions of math, critical reading, and writing sections of the SAT

• Targeted practice questions for each SAT question type

• Practice essay questions, along with sample essays and annotations

• Free online score reports

That looks…nifty, but I’m curious as to the point of the DVD.

Man! I want a rollback on this new book at Walmart. Walmart - DON’T FAIL ME NOW - GIVE ME A ROLLBACK - I <3 YOU WALMART :D.

Wow, an updated version. I was skeptical at first, but I guess this confirms it.

I’m also quite curious about the DVD. An actual teacher that teaches some concepts, perhaps?

Hopefully there’ll be some new practice tests, if we’re lucky.

Yes, there is a new Blue Book and I assume the answer explanations will be online starting Tuesday.

My questions are does anyone know:
-which administered tests are in it?
-are the tests different from the online course tests?

Have any of the CC Administrators/Senior Members seen this book?

I am not really sure, but I talked to someone with Collegeboard and he said it is the exact same book as before, but it just has an extra practice test on the CD. I guess we will know in a few days for sure.

the tests are as follows:
BBtest 1= October 2006
BBtest #2= January 2007
BB test#3 + May 2007

Will there be any new tests in it that aren’t in the BB or released?

OH MY GOSH MY YEAR HAS BEEN MADE ALREADY <3

Haha! I can’t believe just in time when I need tests the most. If anyone orders it, can you just tell me these facts?

Are the tests different?

Should you buy it if you have the 1st edition and did the tests in the 2nd edition?

Thanks <3

Definitely will be going to Walmart. Should I preorder it?

i pre=ordered it so I will let you know. BUT as far as I know, the only new test will be on the CD.

Thank you  ^^

Sarah Myers McGinty gets listed as an author on some of the sales sites. What is her role in the production of this book?

sketchy buisness tactics as usual lol. Make the book exactly the same as the previous edition with a different cover and then just add a cd which contains ONE extra practice test. If they are gonna do that, might as well just sell the cd. But hey, we all know what the motives of those despots are like haha!

Wow… no new practice tests? That’s disappointing…

Do Walmart or B&N have this book stocked in your town?

You have to preorder ^

The online feature where one can enter the responses and see TCB’s explanations now contains 11 tests.

The 10th test is identical to the previous edition. This probably means that the only new test will be on the DVD, and probably not that new either.

Fwiw, the Question 18 in Section 3 that is the last grid-in of the section is an average speed problem. The question is about a round-trip of a car going at 40 mph and 20 mph. Made me smile!
