[] Gender: Female
Reflection
[li] Strengths: I have lots of foreign language experience (I’m studying Korean and Spanish and Arabic is my second language), I have the scholarship to Korea which was really competitive, and I think in my essay I managed to show a lot of personality which I guess they liked. Also, the fact that I’m an American citizen living in Saudi Arabia with Egyptian and Yemeni parents was probably a reason why they kept reading my application despite my low GPA and low-ish sat scores (depending on who you ask). Anyway, my essays were focused on my cultural background and how its changed my perspective on life so im sure UIUC liked that[/li][] Weaknesses: low GPA, low sat scores, not that many extra curriculars
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Along with the reasons mentioned previously, i think a big reason why i got accepted is because the college of Applied Health Sciences is one of the least competitive and not many people apply for Speech and Hearing Sciences so I dont have that much competition hahaha
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: this is my first notification
General Comments:
my application had some good strengths but it also had a lot of weaknesses; i think the one thing that tipped it in my favor was the fact that both the college and major I applied to were both uncompetitive compared to UIUC’s other majors haha. IM SUPER HAPPY I GOT IN, UIUC WAS MY TOP CHOICE!!!

I have seen much longer threads in other fora, I personally think starting a second thread was not a good idea.
