New online data on Architecture Schools

Today ACSA, the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, has released an online version of their 2008 "Guide to Architecture Schools"

Go here;
<a href="https://www.acsa-arch.org/admin/Guide_Search/home.aspx%5B/url%5D">https://www.acsa-arch.org/admin/Guide_Search/home.aspx</a></p>

It's FREE -but you do have to register.

Personally I'm very glad that there is no ranking of schools, (at least I didn't find it). With so many great schools in one place you can make your own decision on rank.

After I quick glance I noticed some schools have little data and some have missing or incorrect numbers on some entries. I've read that the schools themselves have access and can correct and update info directly. Of course you can always go directly to the school to confirm.

Anyway, it's another resource for those in the hunt.

Link didn't work for me.

I'm not very good at this posting links stuff. I think that page was for someone already a registered member.

Try this.

<a href="https://www.acsa-arch.org/admin/guide_search/%5B/url%5D">https://www.acsa-arch.org/admin/guide_search/</a></p>

I couldn't get either link to work -- but I think their site might be down, so I'll try later. I hate that I JUST paid $35 for them to mail me the 2003 edition and they didn't even tell me a more recent one was on its way. Oh well. Appreciate the info.

I have to say this is amazing that they put this online. My '03 edition was put to good use.

I didn't order the '03 guide as it would have arrived after the application deadlines for my son. Now, during the dull days of patiently waiting for acceptance/denied letters he's been looking at student architecture sites and found the online '08 version. Not sure how helpful it will be now that the applications are in, but certainly it will be useful to hs juniors and rising seniors.

As for the link not working he tells me (by e-mail from his room) I'm doing it wrong and has suggested that you Google ACSA 3.0, click on the ACSANews Current Issue link (warning it's a big pdf file) and scroll down to page three for a direct link. Perhaps someone here can post the corrected link.

I followed the steps above. The website is ACSA Guide to Architecture Schools The site comes up with a "Coming Soon" flag. The ACSA site says the site was supposed to go-live 2/15, so I'll keep checking back. Thanks 4Trees.

Does this guide also cover the MArch grad programs? Like 4trees, my kid's applications are in (but for grad school), but I have never seen a guide with write ups on the arch grad programs, but just Design Intelligence's rankings.

Hmmm, I just clicked the link in top post and got directly on the site, yet the one that thespian dad posted won't work for me... I have no clue why.

Anyway, yes grad programs as well as undergrad, for 127 schools. Info and you can search using a variety of filters. Some of the schools have pages and pages, others only sketchy info. I'm pretty sure you could get everything from each of the school's websites but is sure is nice to have it all in one place. Things like # of faculty, student demographics, entering first years, degrees conferred... all help paint a picture of the schools.

Other headings;
Architecture Degrees
University Setting
Program Description
Areas of Focus and Research
Special Activities and Programs
Facilities
Scholarships and Financial Aid

I tried to get in again, and I was able to using the link in 4trees original post. I registered, looked at a couple schools, and now I can't get back in!
This is a server issue on their end, I imagine it will be fixed during the coming week.

Yeh, working for me now.
Thanks

The link at the beginning (4trees) did not work for me. I am using IE. I tried using Firefox and the link worked great! The link ACSA Guide to Architecure Schools shows "Coming Soon" with both IE and Firefox. The original link: I am not sure how current it is. It shows University of Kansas as BArch which they no longer offer--it is now a 5 1/2 year MArch. According to the newsletter, the schools will be editing the info on the website. They plan on publishing an 8th edition based on the info on the website version. The 7th Edition was in 2003.

My son used the 7th edition alot to come up with about 12 schools which he further narrowed to 6.

Are you guys accessing the new guide without paying to join, because I haven't been able to do that. I emailed ACSA last week and got this answer:

It won't be ready for public access until next week. The site will be archschools.org. There will be instructions on how to search online from there.

But didn't get an answer on whether I had to pay to join. I JUST paid for the 2003 edition, so really didn't want to pay again.

Thanks.

I intended to have my son joi as a student to so he could check out the guide and what the organization had to offer, but discovered you do not have to pay anything to access the online guide. It states so very clearly in the current issue of ACSANews, page three, the article announcing the site. You do have to register, but that's free as well.

I just logged on to the site and it's working for me.

Thanks, I finally got it. I think it was either a safari thing or a mom thing since my son accessed it on his laptop right off. I appreciate you sharing the info.
