New Online Housing selection process

When choosing a room, will you be able to see the names of people already in the room? I'll find it so awkward since you have absolutely no idea who these people are and yet you have to basically randomly pick a room if no one you want to room with is going to UF, which is my situation. For others in the same boat, what do you think you're going to do about this when your selection date comes?
And of course, I'm terrified I'll have a nightmare room mate, and it will be all my fault...lol

It’s really not that big of deal. Yes, you do get to see the people that have already selected that room but at the same time, it’s not finalized. They have until Aug. 1 to change their decision. I actually changed rooms 3 times within 10 minutes because I decided that I’d rather get a double in Jennings than a 2-room triple in Murphee.

There were over 10 rooms available in Jennings. I chose the one I liked best according to the floor plan (the one closest to the kitchen or bathroom- to make those accommodations closer). You shouldn’t pick one based off of who’s already in the room. You’re always going to come across people you don’t like; that doesn’t mean you have to avoid the situation completely. You just have to find a way around it.

Good luck! I chose my room yesterday btw. If your date has passed, I suggest you choose a room now before you end up with a triple which could be double the trouble if you don’t like both of your roommates.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately, my housing date isn’t until July 2 so I’ll probably end up with a late-application triple. So now I guess I just hope that I at least get the hall I want then (Yulee) :)
