This question mainly goes out to the parents of New Orleans students and the students themselves, mainly to freshman -
How is your school handling your financial aid?

I was in the process of working out a package with my counselor down in Loyola and after Katrina hit I've been trying to work it out with both Loyola Chicago and New Orleans Financial Aid Counselors and all I've been getting for the past few months were "we don't know" and "don't worry about it." I've told them since the week after Katrina hit that I have no desire to return to New Orleans but they really didn't take it into stride until today.

Now that I want to stay in Chicago, I have to pay off LoyNO a total of 13,000. Problem? They said my financial aid package was pretty much nonexistant and I was on the verge of screaming at the counselor because of what they have been telling me the past few months.

Now they're saying that my only option are alternative credit-based loans and I'm not eligible for grants or private scholarships? I'm in disbelief.
