I just wondered where the new Owls landed-- Islandin, usmominuk, the new rice dads, and all you new owls-- which college are you in?? Today/tonight is what is called "dis-o night" . This has been orientation week, but I believe the uppercalssmen are allowed back in to their dorms and the campus becomes "wet" again. So now they throw their parties and cause "disorientation". I kinda miss these college days....

Sorry I haven't posted in a while but have been PMing with a couple GREAT Rice Moms and we have been keeping each other busy! Move-in went well. D is in Sid-Rich and I was pleasantly surprised by the suite.. lots of space. Met a lot of nice freshman parents and had a great time walking around campus on Saturday before move-in although MY GOOODNESS IS IT HOTT!! We practically bought out the campus store so if anyone found them lacking in Rice items it is all our fault. H got home Monday and hung the Rice flag off the deck first thing! He wasn't much involved in the college search and was really impressed by Rice. How could you not be? I truly enjoyed the speeches although I did shed a few tears. Everything really went well and I held it together until, for some reason, I broke down when the plane took off. Wasn't even thinking about D, Rice, etc. just getting ready for take-off and BOOM the tears really started coming. Still experiencing some moments of sadness but doing okay since it appears from those BRIEF telephone conversations that she is enjoying everything and having a great time. She did have a bit of a mix-up with Esther and didn't get to schedule her classes until late which meant she only got two of the classes that she wanted : ( But she is now happy with what she got..so we will see. Said she is going to attempt to wash clothes tommorrow.. uhh... life as an adult, LOL! She had practice for Powder Puff football (HUH??) and really enjoyed that and actually met a girl who recognized her from track (local PA girl) which she said was "weird".. So, here we are. I think she will be staying : )

Islandin-
Not to worry about classes-- a lot of students change around-- the drop/add time is pretty busy. So, classes may open up for your d. after all. Glad all is going well. Do you have more kids at home, or are you an empty nester?? Going back for parents week? that comes around pretty quickly-- so cheer up little buckaroo.... :)

Isandin - My D didn't get 2 of her classes either, but she doesn't seem to mind changing her plans. She is so very happy! She's in Martel and I didn't know dorm rooms came so big. Laundry is on the schedule for tomorrow for my D also, but if all the freshmen leave it until then.... Oh well, it is no longer my problem!
