SAT's did not make it in for Early Decision. Uhg. They put dd's application into the RD stack. On college board, it says New Paltz is rolling after ED. I take this to mean they will review your application as it comes in and get back to you after they decide. I called yesterday and they said we won't know until March. March? Uhg. Does this make sense? Could the person on the phone been mistaken?

just speculation here -- but new paltz could be experiencing what a lot of suny's are this year -- increased applications and increased concern as to how their yield may be affected by the economy.
so i think more suny's may be taking longer to review the applications to make sure they get to look at the overall pool.
whatever a school did last year simply may not be what they are doing this year -- and the collegeboard info may not be keeping up.
bottom line -- someone in the admissions office is more likely to be able to give you accurate information than someone on an anonymous message board.
if you're that concerned, call again, see if you get the same answer and if so mention that you thought it was rolling admissions and see what they respond.

I think a lot of colleges may send admissions out earlier but don't want you calling every day so they'll just tell you you'll have a decision by March, but it could be earlier.

Last fall New Paltz ran into a problem with freshman admissions as they had a record number of students decide to come to the school. They ended up with a huge housing crunch and I'm sure this made things difficult for the NP staff and the incoming class in many other ways as well by their having to juggle such an over population. It's possible they are trying to work out a better system for this coming fall and maybe that is the hold up. Just my guess.

When did your dear daughter receive her letter about her status?!?!

I took your advice and called the admissions office back. They said her decision is in the mail and if we haven't received it yet, we should any day.

Great news...good luck! Is NP your daughter's first choice?

I was accepted today to NP!

Hey! Was it in a big or a small envelope?!?! I am so curious and what were your stats?!?!

Congrats william16z! Will you be attending in the fall?

im not sure if i will be attending yet, its too far in advance to know. and it came in a big white envelope.

a quick summary of my stats are

gpa-3.4
ACT-25
varsity sports, a few clubs, a lot of community service, and some of honors and aps
im a white male from westchester county

good luck!!!!

That makes me feel a bit better because we have similar stats; I am so excited; hopefully I will get in!

I just hope that I receive mine soon; whatever the decision may be;... I live in northern N.Y. so it may be awhile!

My daughter was accepted today too! Yep big white envelope with a folder inside. Her stats: GPA 95.56(weighted)
ACT 29
Lots of EA ie Drama, (vice president) color Guard, Recording club, Illusion singer (our schools rock show)

No merit $ offered as of yet. We are from NY. Sadly, i do not think she wants to go. Wailting to hear from Binghamton, Cortland, geneseo, Hofstra UNH, and Ithaca. Already accepted at DeSales.

We are out of state and I am afraid NPmay not like oos kids.
I think it is a top choice for my daughter who wants to do photo.

Hopefully, we will hear tomorrow.

Congrats to all who got in.

lindab: according to an admissions officer at Binghamton (also a SUNY), OOS kids are going to be sorely needed this year with the budget crisis looming....can't imagine that wouldn't apply to NP, as well as the rest of the SUNY system.....

as an aside, UMich has accepted many, many more OOS kids this year as well to alleviate the money crunch.....

Hang in there!

Nevermind...

lindab if your daughter wants to do photo I recommend looking at Suny Purchase. My son goes there and it is a very artsy school and Photography is very popular. It is also not as difficult a school to get into as NP if you are in the Arts and Science school (the conservatory is a whole other story ~ very selective)

lindab- is your daughter hearing soon because they switched it to ED or is it still RD??

my whole application was sent to NP on the 19th of December so im curious as to when i will hear back...

Oh, and i applied RD
