Your testing is great, GPA slightly low, and ECs not really showing. Good luck though!

this rushandcrush guy is seriously lacking in his chancing abilities

Ur a match for all ur schools… Congrats

I’m a girl, first of all. And I’m not disagreeing with you… chancing can be interpreted in many different ways. But I don’t understand how you can say he’s an outright match for all his schools. He has a low GPA and doesn’t really demonstrate any lively passion or focus with his ECs. He speaks German because he lived in Germany. I don’t think that counts as an EC.

Claremont McKenna - high match/low reach
Chicago - reach
Michigan - match
Notre Dame - low reach
Virginia - high match/low reach
Vanderbilt - high match/low reach

if a 2250 SAT is a reach for UMICH, i give up in life…

a 3.75 -4.2 GPA isnt low at all, schools look at GPA in ranges, they wont go OH MAN, u got a 3.85, ur definitely better than the guy with 3.75

as long as you are above a certain range, u pretty much equal - a 3.75 and 3.85 and even a 3.9 isnt that big of a difference, ur GPA is fine.

Also, to be honest, people gotta admit 99% of EC"s are just bullcrap and college admission officers realize this - the great majority of EC’s cannot be confirmed and unless u got hard evidence such as awards, certificates, recognitions, EC’s wont really make that big of a difference on your application… jus fills up space-------> talks with admission officers from UCLA, USC, Northwestern, Penn State

Thank you JayJay, you seem a bit more realistic. There are kids with the same curriculum as me (all honors) at my high school with 3.6 gpas and lower ACT getting into Michigan… When I saw rush’s comments I was pretty surprised. Of course, she is (like me) a new member, so maybe our chancing skills are a bit sub par :)
