New Purdue president deplores state of higher education

This from the guy that wanted high schoolers to graduate in three years, college in three years to join the Hoosier job market. He seems to think it is all about economics and that is why he never understood the serious brain drain that is prevalent in our state.

And this also shows that his disdain for professors equals his feelings for school teachers.

http://www.indystar.com/article/20130113/NEWS04/130113016/6-issues-awaiting-Mitch-Daniels-Purdue

“Administrative bloat: The increase of Purdue’s administration ranks and high-paid administrators has become a focus for the University Senate and professor J. Paul Robinson. It was also the focus of a national Bloomberg News article in November. Daniels says he’ll take a look into administrative costs.”

From Wikipedia:

“The Purdue University Board of Trustees unanimously elected Mitch Daniels president of Purdue University on June 21, 2012. As governor, Daniels appointed 8 of the 10 Board members, and reappointed the other two, which some claimed as a conflict of interest.”

Nothing unethical there!

Though I’m not a Purdue student, I was a West Lafayette resident for over 12 years and I speak for nearly all the students and faculty I know when I say that I am none too excited about “our man” Mitch taking the reins, given how many years he previously spent screwing over every facet of public education in Indiana.

Many of his critiques are accurate. But I’d be lying if I said I expected him to handle them effectively.

SoCal, speaking of boards…our man Mitch is on the board of the Bradley Foundation. Say no more…
