New quarter's classes

registration time depends on your year and the amount of units you have finished, I think.

I thought 39C would be easier, but 39B was wayyy easier. 39B took more thought and intuitive effort. 39C was research, time management, and writing skills.

From anyone else’s past experiences, was Writing 30 & 31 quick to fill up?

Yeah how are writ 31 (fiction writing)? Is it hard?

ANTRHO 2A With Douglas, monday nights, once a week. Most awesome ratings on ratemyprof i’ve seen in a long long time! It covers Cat 3 GE’s And I will be taking it winter quarter!

I’m planning on taking Douglas for anthro as well, hehe

So should I do writ or an easy social science class for next quarter?

Writ.

Anthro is full already with 40 on the waitlist, and my reg. date is still in a couple weeks… LOL

They only have 4 poetry and 4 fiction classes…why can’t we get rid of some 39C classes for more poetry/fiction?!

agreed. i was SO CLOSE to finally getting one of those, and this morning the last spots filled :(

Oh man… I don’t want to take 39c…

What are you guys going to do, take 39c or wait another quarter? -.-

I’m waiting until at least spring… maybe even until summer

I’m taking physics, chemistry, labs for both, and math 2d winter quarter so I’m going to focus on that. I could take writing winter quarter but… I hate my current writing class sooo yeah

:P

if you really do not want to take 39c, you might want to wait it out until you get a better enrollment window. as a sophomore (very close to junior standing), i still was only able to waitlist for writ 31. if you need to do research writing in your line of work, i would suggest taking it because it will help you in the long run. personally i don’t believe it to be relevant because i am a studio art major and wouldn’t really be doing research writing. just make sure you are able to finish both LD writing by the deadline (either 6th or 7th quarter at uci; i’m not sure which)

oh, and i heard that writing 39c is easier in the summer because you have one fewer paper or something like that, so it is certainly something to look into…

You have to finish Lower Division Writing by the end of your second year.

Unless you’re really down with poetry and fiction writing, I would jsut take 39C because its more straighforward. I wouldnt really say poetry/fiction is easier unless you are actually good/interested in it.

And 39C is easier in the summer, I heard it alot and I toook it in the summer too. You don’t have less papers but you get it over with faster and teacher usually goes a bit easier on grading and requirements for # of sources. All of the research you have to do is a real ***** and takes tons of time so taking it in the summer is much easier on yourself as opposed to during the school year when you have core classes to deal with.
