New Questions

I sent Stony Brook an email regarding these already but I'm not sure when I would get a reply, it seems most colleges/universities are extremely busy so I don't know if I would get an answer on time. I hope CC can aid me.

 1. I would love to apply now. I would of earlier but I also have a SAT coming soon during December in which I am hoping for a better score than my previous attempts. The website indicates I can send in as late as next year but I plan to apply now through the SUNY application online. The application indicates I have 14 days after I submit my application to send my transcript and other documents to the campus I'm applying for. It would not be possible to send in my December score if I submit now. Can I submit my application via SUNY, process the fees, etc and wait for my December SAT, then send in my scores to Stony Brook ASAP? (I will be putting Stony Brook as my recipient on Collegeboard so once my scores are out they will send it.)

Another concern is I do not plan to take any SAT Subject tests, instead I will be focusing on my AP Exams. I know SAT II's are not mandatory, but will this greatly hinder one's application? How many students generally get admitted without taking the SAT II's? (Fair amount?)

I am a resident of NYC and go to a Public NYC High School. Will this benefit me as an applicant or hurt me?

I’m not 100% sure on this, but I think that the last SATs that you can send in are November.

No, it won’t affect you. They’ll look at the other parts of your application with a greater weight. I’m sure many people are admitted without SAT IIs, as they only started asking for them two years ago.

It won’t explicitly hurt you, but Stony Brook likes geographic diversity and it doesn’t like students from the City.

I got a VERY quick reply, within a day I believe.

I love them even more now. :P
