New ranking of B-school is out, let's talk about Master of Finance

I just wanted to know what are some good schools to apply to in the New Jersey/New York areas that offer MS Finance degrees. Also just wondering how exactly does a MS Finance degree differ from lets say MS Fin.Engineering, MS Quant. Finance, and MBA degrees? And one more question which examination should I take to be accepted into a MS Finance program? Most college websites say I could take either the GRE or the GMAT. Wouldnt the GRE be an easier examination to take? Thank you very much for your time and efforts.

since its your relative score that matters, by definition, neither exam can be “easier”

since when does wharton offer a mfin, or nyu???

"University of Florida
Hi,
Does anyone knows what the Mfin at the University of Florida worth ?
My top goal would be Princeton but when i look at the acceptance rate, I want to consider some others…
The only ranking available is the one of Global Derivative but it s from 2004…too old…
Any Idea of some good other program (not engineer finance) ??

Thx !!

Btw my profile:
3.7 GPA BA in Finance
1 year full time experience with a big Investment Bank
730 gmat
good records on portfolio management"

I know it’s been awhile since you posted but I actually really like UF’s MSF program. They offer a class on securities trading which I haven’t really found elsewhere, and they’ve got some pretty good recruiters that come in. I’ll probably apply for the fall 2010 cohort but probably won’t get in; you’ve got the stats for it though.

Thank you for your post Gordon,
Yep I m gonna apply also but I m looking for a bit more choices than only Princeton and UF…
But I dont have much ideas…so many of them are MSF engineering which I cannot do…

Please look at my original post in this thread, all the schools I mentioned are general finance programs.

Pm if you need more info.

Well, also the Financial Times has a Masters in Finance Ranking now. For the first time they published it last week - and actually they published two rankings, one or Finance programs who require work experience and for programs without: [Master in Finance Ranking: Pre- and Post-experience Masters in Finance](<a href=“MBA vs. Master in Management (MIM): Alternative or Substitute?”>MBA vs. Master in Management (MIM): Alternative or Substitute?)

Top Schools for Masters in Finance (Pre-Experience Ranking)
HEC Paris
IE Business School
Essec Business School
University of Oxford: Sa

FT ranking is a start, but far from complete. They excluded many MSF programs because their ranking requirements are so stringent.
