New Rankings (THE & QS)

I don’t know. This is the second year in a row that Toronto (despite losing two spots from last year globally) has placed 1st in Canada on the Times Higher Education World University Ranking. (On last year’s 2010-2011 ranking, Toronto also took 1st place in Canada regarding ‘Engineering & Technology’, ‘Clinical, Pre-clinical & Health’, ‘Physical sciences’, ‘Social Sciences’, and ‘Arts & Humanities’. The only subject area in which it did not take 1st place was ‘Life sciences’; the University of British Columbia took 1st place, with Toronto 2nd and McGill 3rd. The new 2011-2012 THE specific subject area rankings will be released throughout October and November, but I don’t imagine the results being all that different for Canada.)

Toronto also placed 1st in Canada on the 2011 *Academic Ranking of World Universities/I – released August 15, 2011 – as it has done every single year since the ARWU’s inception in 2003. That’s pretty good consistency.
