New Residence Hall

I just have a question concerning New Rez. How long of a walk is it to New Rez from, say, the Maass chem building. Is it less of a walk than it would be to Douglas Hall? Would you recommend a transit pass? Thanks!

New Rez is about 5 blocks from McGill. (I think thats what they said on the tour) Douglas is just uphill, it takes 8-12 minutes to walk to lower campus.

New Rez is really close to campus. you basically just walk down Prince Arthur and then Milton and enter through the Milton gates.
Douglas is a bit farther, but close to campus also. the downfall to Douglass is that it, as well as the other Upper Rez, are at the top of a big hill which can get to be annoying, especially in the winter. RVC and greenbriar are the two closest campus (both being literally across the street from campus)

thething about campus is, its connected underground,( more int he winter than the summer) so although you might not enter at the Chem building, you can walk campus in the heated buildings.

I visited the campus, and stayed in one of the residences overnight. honestly, the walk from Bishop Mountain Residences is nothing bad. Perhaps in the winter it would get annoying.

the hill will get reaaaaaallly annoying

the hill is a killer...god..

but in ur second year u will have a toned ass...tats for sure...i guess its somehting positive

Another New Res related question: How are the rooms? I looked at a picture, and they seemed really nice...I mean, like actual hotel rooms. Is that the reality? Is it a bit odd living in a hotel room?

yeh...sort of..

the rooms are smaller than they appear in those pics...but its still a hotel room nonetheless..

i felt that new rez was really impersonal compared to the other residences...especially with cameras everywhere and the tight security...u have to sign in everyone who comes to visit u...a big hassle if u have friends from outside...

the new rez common/games room also sucks now...they moved it to outside so that people visiting dont have to be signed in to acess the common room...there is hardly place for anything now...

So, do you guys think some of the dorms at the top of the hill might be more preferable? I do want to have that dorm experience, I'm not into the whole apartment thing for my first year...however, I mean, I want it to be a good experience. What do you all think?

I hope i get New Rez.
