Yale is likely to add two new residential colleges. Any idea when the new colleges, if added, will actually begin to house students?

A decade, perhaps?

The Corporation votes on it this month. Everyone assumes it's a done deal, so once they vote yes, we'll start seeing concrete details.

Yale Daily News - Expansion: Not if, but when

In interviews over the last semester with two dozen current and former Yale officials, this much is clear: When the Yale Corporation convenes one week from today to decide whether to proceed with planning to build two new residential colleges, the decision it makes will be more of a formality than anything else.

They're estimating 2013.

The expansion itself doesn't really bother me...Yale will still probably be smaller than Harvard in terms of undergraduate population.

However, the location STINKS. Behind a cemetery, on science hill, isolated from all of the other colleges? Not sweet.

I'm just glad I'll have finished at Yale before they're done :) And who knows, with a $22B endowment, Yale might be able to make the area around the colleges much more appealing. Nonetheless, there are still some BIG concerns surrounding this whole thing

I don't like this expansion one bit.
