My roomie didn’t have a facebook, only a myspace. She eventually got one in college. Some people just don’t want a facebook. Nothing wrong with them (I think).

she MIGHT just be a normal girl who has no interest in it yet cuase she goes to school with all of her best friends and doesnt spend much time on the computer. however, most people in my HS who didn’t have facebook were kind of oddball. really wouldnt have anyone to talk to on facebook. or kids who are just SO over being so mainstream, “non-conformists” all the way.

youll never find out unless you email the girl =)
hopefully youll be able to tell from the first couple of emails that shes a nice, social person who just hasnt found a need for facebook yet. but if she turns out to be weird i can sense some “she doenst even HAVE FACEBOOK” converstaions with other friends. haha

^^this could be true. although my friend’s roommate didn’t have a facebook and she turned out to be pretty odd..

Honestly, not having a facebook in college is pretty out of the ordinary, even if you don’t use it much, you may be out of touch. It depends on your school I guess

A recent survey found that about 85% of all college going students have a facebook account. So relax, he/she just happens to belong to the ‘other’ 15%![]()
I’m pretty sure though that he does have an id somewhere else, maybe he uses Hi5, Orkut or myspace. There are OTHER social networking sites you know.

No face…

i can’t believe that facebook is getting this much attention – plenty of people dont have it – its not that big of a deal… i mean if i see some guy search with yahoo and not google (or god forbid look something up in a book) i dont freak out and wonder if theres something wrong with him…why am i even posting and adding to this nonsense?? haha i have no idea…

It’s very normal to not have facebook. I know some people who don’t have it and their reasons were often because they don’t have time for it or they just don’t care about it. Some people even set their profile in such a way that only their friends can see them. So it’s certainly no surprise that you can’t find your roommate.

people from different areas don’t use facebook. i had THREE roommates and i searched them all up and NONE of them had facebook. you can imagine my shock, a massachusetts suburban girl, where EVERYONE uses facebook. my roommates were from the caribbean, hawaii, and mainland china! they use other online social networking websites there similar to myspace, so it does NOT mean they are extremely unsocial, un-technologically familiar, or anything of the sort. my roommates all turned out to be super social (even moreso than me), lovely people!
and they all got addicted to fb, lol

Most in my school use Myspace, not that professional, educated FB. :P

it means they’re faaaaaar too kule

It depends on where your roommate’s from. Facebook is massively popular here in CT, so if a roommate of mine didn’t have it (assuming she was in-state, of course), I might raise an eyebrow and idly wonder if it was a lack of interest, overprotective parents, lack of Internet access…but I’d try not to judge her on that, and find another way to contact her.

On the other hand, I have a friend who moved here from Seattle a couple of years ago. She sometimes laments that many of her West Coast friends don’t have Facebook- apparently, over there, MySpace is still all the rage. (If you’re from Seattle and offended by this for whatever reason, I apologize.) It could just be that some other social networking site is super-trendy where your roommate lives and nobody really cares about Facebook.

I live in the West Coast. Most of us don’t use facebook that much-at all but resort to MySpace. Why? No idea. So please don’t fret if your roommates don’t have fb.

Perhaps they just don’t feel like using myspace or facebook?

I do however, question why you give a ****. What the hell does it matter if he or she doesn’t use myspace or facebook? Are you considered a defunct loser if you don’t use internet communication outlets? What ever happened to instant messengers? Are they not sufficient enough?

This whole thread is an absolute joke. No wonder the rest of the world hates us. “Oh my god, that person is so weird, he or she is different than me. Should I be weary of him or her? Could he or she be a terrorist? Will he or she ruin my social life because he or she doesn’t have friends? Oh lord, should I transfer colleges?”

The ignorance of this country’s youth.

wedge, You took what I was gonna say. =P I second you.

Seriously, I don’t even get why this is a discussion. It shouldn’t be. You’re allowed to talk to and have friends outside of social networking sites, yanno. Chill out. It’s not a big deal.

guys, this was posted by a parent who doesn’t know much about facebook; I think he/she was just curious about what kinds of kids typically use it/don’t use it.

I just found my college roomie on facebook! But for a summer internship out-of-state, I have 2 roommates. They both do not have facebook. One is extremely outgoing, texts and uses myspace. The other is friendly and nice, but doesn’t go on social networking sites often. It really doesn’t mean anything.

When my college senior was about to be a college freshman, not so long ago, you couldn’t join facebook until you received your college email address. And now just three years later, you are a reject if without a facebook precollege? Maybe the rm is an intelectual, an athlete, busy working to save for college, or busy with any other persuit more stimulating than facebook. Maybe rm would rather be with people than a keyboard.

I don’t believe no facebook is a concern.

Facebook sucks.

Myspace is way more popular than facebook imo.
