What do you think is the minimum SAT score necessary to be competitive if I would like to apply to an Ivy League school? For some reason I really screwed up and got a 1460 on the October SAT so I’m retaking it. Is a 1460 bad and will colleges see it? I got a 23/24 on the essay though.
1460 is pretty darn good, but yes you can do better and no, the large majority of Ivy League colleges won’t see it if you are careful about which scores you send. And the schools that do require all scores are bound to see some first-try 1400s mixed in with the “best of” 1500+ scores. Not everyone can crack 1500 on the 1st try.
Go to each of the schools that you’re interested in and look for the SAT range. Pay attention to the 25-75th percentile. To be a competitive applicant shoot for scores at least 50th percentile.
Based on this I think that a 1460 is lower than the 25th percentile for all ivys
