Hey guys, so a couple days ago I got my SAT back, and got a 1520(800 Reading and Writing, 720 Math). I’m aiming for top schools and my prospective majors are Classics and Econ. The thing is, I know tests aren’t everything, and I’d love to be able to say that’s a great score, perfectly in line for HY etc, and that they’ll look at it once, deem me academically qualified, and move on to the other parts of my application. And I know that for most schools I’m applying to, even Ivies, it’s at or above average. But at Harvard and Yale, my top two, it’s not. I’d love to be able to spend time on the other parts of my application, which are not only the things that make me interesting to them, but also the things I personally love to do, especially more so than studying for the SAT. But I also don’t want to leave something undone that might help my application, you know? It’s just the fact that it’s just below average for some of these schools, along with the fact that it seems as though the only people who can get away which being academically below average are be recruited athletes, legacies, development cases, and VIPs, is just nagging at me. What do you guys think? Sorry if I’m being paranoid, I just worry about stupid things sometimes. Thank you so much!
honestly, i think you’ll be fine. for HYPSM, even if you have a 1600, you’re not guaranteed anything. i would just focus on other parts of the app. if you get rejected from these schools, it won’t be because of your 1520. good luck
Thank you!
