New SAT and PSAT

As most of you know the new PSAT scores were recently released. And I have a few questions

I took a Practice New Sat test at a prep center (C2 Education) and got a 500 on the math section. On the contrary, I got a 710 on the Math section for the PSAT (210 point difference). My question is: How much more difficult is the math on the SAT vs the PSAT ? Why was there such a big point difference? Granted, the practice SAT test was not developed by the college board and may not be the most accurate but I still believe that there is still merit to the score. Any input would be appreciated

And for the SAT… would anyone recommend a 10th grader taking it this March just to “try it out”… it will be the first time the new SAT will be administered.

I also got a 710 on the math section, but I missed 8 questions. It could be that the practice tests where really inaccurate or it could be the curve.

Usually test prep companies make their tests difficult so you see your score and decide to buy a bunch of expensive classes to “boost” your score. I think your PSAT score is a good indicator of your real sat! If you want to take the March test, I think that is fine, as long as you don’t apply to colleges that ask for every score of every test session because that one may be the lowest.
