hey all.. i hav questions to ask bout the curve in the new sat..
i mean how many mistakes is permitted in all the 3 sections:maths, reading and writing so as to get a perfect 800 on all the sections...also what bout the marks in essay... is a 12/12required or a 10/12 wud b fine??

I got 13 wrong in CR in May and got a 640, 2 wrong in Maths=790 and a 10 and 2 wrong in the MCQs =770 writing
btw nice name

thanks.. hey cool score man 2200 so ur gonna go to the ive league..
btw how much did u score on ur essay.. 10?

The two 800 "point curves" that I'm sure about are Writing and Math:

Writing: I got 10 on the essay and 1 wrong on MC and got an 800; for a 10 essay, 1 wrong is the max you can get for a perfect score. Ofcourse, as you get to an 11 or 12 essay, you can get more MC wrong (I think it's up to 4 or 5 for a 12 essay?)

Math: Curve is bad - One wrong = 790.

As for Verbal, I'm not sure but I'm gonna say its at most 1 - 3 wrong for a perfect score (I suck at verbal so I wouldn't know).

Note: This is according to the March SAT.

:)

yes I did get a 10 on the essay. but now I'm feeling robbed.... 1 less wrong on the writing and I might have got a 800... anyways....

1 FEWER wrong on the writing...

Just in case it turns out to be the one you get wrong next time.

;)

:)

i got 3 wrong on math on june and got a 720
1 wrong on writing with a 10 essay and got a 770
10 wrong (stupid sentence completions!) and got a 660

i was kind of mad about the math and writing curves. like if I had the same test as a previous poster, i would've had a 800 writing. still, i was REALLY glad that the CR was so generous.

HiWei:

I have to disagree with your writing analysis on the basis of my harsh curve.
I missed 1 MC and got an 11 essay and received a 780.

I believe the verbal you might be able to miss one max for an 800

And the math one is just as brutal as you say...and sometimes moreso...I have heard of someone missing one and getting a 770.

Hm... With which part of my writing analysis do you disagree with? The 10 Essay + 1 Wrong MC or the 12 Essay + 4-5 Wrong MC?

:)

I would say the 12 essay statement is less accurate.

hey people.. thanks a lot....
can somebody gimme their success story on the sat... likei n wht book u used how much time u prepared for and any special things to remember??

Suppose you get a 12 on the essay, WORST CASE SCENARIO how many can you miss and still get an 800?

I mean, on the CB blue book tests you can miss like 7 and still be in the "800" range!...sounds very unrealistic.

1 wrong is the worst case scenario.

Um... I think this is a success story:

In the PSAT that I took during Sophmore year, on the Writing section I got a 54 and, not knowing anything then, I didn't worry about it. Three weeks before my Junior SAT, I bought a PR Writing book (which I guess is the same as the Writing section of the PR New SAT book) and just read through it and I got a 75.

Yay.

:)

I missed 5 and got a 12 essay and got a freaking 740.

Wow biomaster, that curve sucks.
I missed 1, which still gave me 80 MC subscore so the one missed didn't affect me, and I got ripped off with a 7 for the essay. The essay dropped me 60 points to a 740. It is odd that you missed 5 MC out of 49 while I missed 5 out of 12 possible points on the essay, and we still got the same score.
What was your MC subscore?

Flipsta that 7 sub-score sounds so incongruous to your MC score that I would recommend submitting for a re-score if I were you....(a 10 maybe but a SEVEN?!)

Ehh...I'm not sure about the "Essay Score Investigation" Service CB offers. It costs 50 bucks, which they will refund only if they change your score. Knowing how greedy CB is, and that they don't like admitting their system is imperfect/subjective, there seems to be no incentive for CB to even seriously consider changing your score.

Plus, since I plan on retaking the SAT anyways (to bring up math to 800, and Writing as high as possible), what is the point of trying the essay re-score thing? Let's say they change my essay grade from a 7 to an 8, thus most likely bringing up my Writing score to a 760. That would bring my total score up to a 2300. Don't you think I would look even more like a perfectionist to colleges for retaking a 2300 rather than my current 2280?

Any advice?

2 wrong on math = 740 for me

GAWD if it was like 770 or sometihng i wouldnt have to retake.
