Hi guys so I took the New SAT Essay with practice exams from the New SAT Blue Book and asked someone who had knowledge on the New SAT to grade it. I got a 7/12 (Practice), My grammar is not really good but I think my analysis is on the moderate to good side. That was my first time I ever took an SAT Essay and I never really prepared or anything for it. So is this score good for someone who’s going to be a sophomore next year? And how do I improve on writing the essay? Thanks!

- Has Passage Analysis
- Write about the authors point of view on the topic
- Use correct grammar and all that good stuff
I would completely ignore the score of 7. The grader can’t possibly know how the college board will specifically choose to grade these essays.
The grader was my local SAT Preparation center, they gathered information from college board on the grading.
Grading essays is the most subjective thing ever. I got an 8/12 on my ACT essay and in my feedback section all it said was “Discussed opposition but not in depth.” I wrote an entire paragraph addressing the opposing opinion and breaking it down. My nemesis on the other hand got a 10 and she happily noted “I didn’t talk about the opposition at all!” Well, jokes on her. She got a 31, I got a 32 then a 33.
